I am trying the Napa MaxDrive CV axles out. So far, not so happy. We will see after the Dusy Ershim trip which way I go - taking 3 spares with me.
May switch back to OEM as I talked to the local parts manager and he will match internet prices for me so I don't have to ship cores around. He would not do that before so I tried plan C. Plan B was making my son use Autozone "Lifetime" cv's on his - that really didn't go well. You should have seen those ball bearing flying down the sandstone on Hell's Revenge.
I didn't have great luck with the OEM ones either - broke this one and it took out my manual hub.

A company used to make “hub fuses” for 1st gen Aisin hubs. The inner ring which the dial face moves up and down to connect the hub body to the inner splines was modified with some weak points. This ensured it would fail first. But then your hubs would be full of metal chunks so I’m not sure it was that much of a benefit...

Maybe get the OEM...car-part.com.
Rebuild/regrease and do the cup grind.
This guy just did some cv mods.

Yeah, I'm sure the 37's had nothing to do with it.

The Dusy was a doozy. Ranger was pooped after someone broke his third of four for the trip. More to come once I get home.

I'll get some photo's of the broken CV's and we can all have a good laugh. Thanks again for the bottle jack trick and for helping replace those things that broke. lol

No problems. Sure didn't take anything away from how fun the trip was.
