Any pics of the 906's installed? I've been looking at all of the info within the 3rd gen forum, my '99 has saggy butt and I want to fix it and gain a bit of extra weight capacity WITHOUT having a "lifted" look. I personally like the stance of the '99, I don't want or need to go any higher.

Apologies for the mini-hijack.

You may also want to consider airbags or later gen (4th or 5th) OEM rear springs.

My 890s have about 100K on them and sagged about 1"

All three of these are progressive springs, the LCs are not and will sag and rebound consistently across the load range

RPM issue is random and intermittent, so far today it has been fine but it stalled in parking lot on Saturday

Maybe it's an ignitor issue *head scratch emoji*

I picked up the LC coils from another forum member who got them loose with his truck when he bought it, he had not run them and mileage is unknown, but they looked pretty good (not scratched or rusted and minimal paint mark chipping)

They have not been on the truck long enough for me to have an opinion about ride quality.

Have you considered 891s?
I will do some research on those. Thanks!

Wheeling with LC 8-wraps

Last weekend of April 2018 we did the Pilot Rock Truck Trail 2N33 from hwy 173 just outside Arrowhead to Silverwood Lake off hwy 138. Most all write ups will have you enter from Silverwood 138, we did it in reverse since we started from Lake Arrowhead.

This is basically a beginner-rated fire road that goes over the SanBerdu mountains with lots of off-shoots, called Open Routes, of varying difficulty. The trail was desolate when we entered it around noon from a turn off near the end of 173 (southern closure) and quickly becomes something that a standard 2WD vehicle would not be comfortable on. The added ground clearance of my lift and 17" rims with 285s made the trail completely manageable for my 2WD. That is not to say there aren't "expert" sections that are steep and narrow that I opted not to try without armor and a buddy vehicle or two lol

As we got closer to Silverwood, around the 2N36 intersection, the trail started getting crowded and once we got to the lake shore banks it was packed with locals who come up for the semi-secluded beaches. The interesting thing about Silverwood is that it is a reservoir that the LA Aqueduct dumps into with a hydroelectric plant on 138 as the water passes out enroute to exit near CSU San Berdu. With a few stops along the way for views and to hike a few trail sections, we spent about 2 hours going 11.5 miles on dirt.

Our initial plan was to make a loop out of taking 138 back to 173, then the dirt section of 173 back to Arrowhead but that road was hard closed in 2010 lol unbeknownst to me (good research dude) so we ended up taking the rural, alpine-zone roads back to 18 and 173 to Arrowhead, which was really pretty too.

Here are a few pics

First view of Silverwood Lake

Overall the LC coils did well and raising the rear of the vehicle added to my exit angle from dips resulting in zero tail dabs. Next suspension mod, front coils.

Next armor mods, skids and sliders.

Pilot Rock is fun and like you said the best part is you basically choose how difficult you want to make it. It’s a great spot to cut your teeth on easy & moderate trails. Cleghorn Trail is nearby and the two trails often get run together since you can take a short pavement connector on highway 138. I’ve ran it going east to west from the Tejon Pass off the 15 freeway. The SoCal section has a dedicated thread on Cleghorn Trail if you want to keep an eye out for last minute runs in that area.

Cleghorn catch-all

Cleghorn catch-all
Cleghorn is rated Most Difficult on all maps I've seen, and yes, I passed it on 138 on the way back. I'm leery to do anything too challenging solo at this point.

We did the Willow Springs Jeep Trail a few weeks ago which was a mix of easy and moderate and my truck knocked it all out without issue.

Thanks for the Cleghorn link!

They’re very similar trails, actually. Trailsoffroad.com rates it at a 6 (Moderate) but that’s the offshoots that have that rating. It describes the main trail as a 2, which I tend to agree with on both accounts.

Here’s a snip from the link below:

“This trail has a rating of "6" which is based off the optional routes, the main trail is easily rated at a "2" and passable by a 2WD SUV or truck.”

https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails...cleghorn-ridge

The only caveat with Cleghorn vs Pilot rock is that from highway 138 to highway 15 (East to West), it’s mostly uphill, which changes things a bit!

@Dezert4Runner I contemplated turning around and going back up Pilot Rock, which would have been a lot more uphil than the way we went, but it was so crowded at that point I couldn't imagine having to try to make way to oncoming traffic on the lower Sliverwood section; it's so narrow compared to the upper Arrowhead section.

I'll do some research and plan a day to run em both starting earlier

Installed a new to me roof basket today that I picked up from a forum member last week.

I removed the factory luggage-rail crossmembers, keeping the roof tracks, and made adapters to mount the rack to the roof using the sliders inside the tracks. Fun project.

I ran a 2-1/2" 10/24 flat head screw up screw up through the track anchors and secured it with a jam nut and some Loctite. Install those in the track with screws pointing upwards and use the cross bars over them to secure in place with a fender washer and a lock nut. Then I drilled quarter inch holes through the basket bottom rails and dropped the basket on top of the screws. Add a rubber backed washer on top and another lock nut. I used all SS hardware.

Note: I would have used SS M6 flat head screws but I couldn't find them in 2-1/2 inch long anywhere.

In the execution I found a few rust spots on the roof that will need tending to soon

Parking in my garage is a challenge cause I have to pass some low-hanging pipes that I clear by 1/4" if I execute the turn just right. I hope my LC coils sag soon Octanejunkie's 4runner Journal - 2WD

And the extra weight of those will help you drop a tad lower too (garage clearance concern).

That rack looks quite nice Mike. Creative installation too. How do you plan to address those rust areas? Maybe you have some POR-15 or the like lying around...

The sliders are only maybe 60# total, and the RCI skids another 65#, but those go up front. Guess I need more junk in my trunk Octanejunkie's 4runner Journal - 2WDOctanejunkie's 4runner Journal - 2WD

Mike, it seems that those weight figures are deltas, meaning that you took into account the weight of what was or will be removed (factory "skids" and running boards)?

I seem to recall sliders being closer to 100 lbs. From my notes:

stock skids - 17 lbs
stock running boards - 30 lbs
