electrical gremlin
this morning my remote did not work, used key, started truck, doors autolocked like they should
started driving, rear wiper did not work neither did the rear/mirror defrost. tried several times, nothing
drove for about half hour, got to the store, got out, hit the remote, doors locked
went back to the car, remote unlocked
drove, rear wipers worked, rear window/mirror defrost worked.
Got to my sons, got out, tried the remote, nothing, got back in the truck, started, no wipers, no defrost
checked fuses, all good, disconnected battery to reset, let sit for an hour, reconnected, no difference, no remote etc.
about an hour later went to leave my sons, remote worked, everything worked. Got home, nothing worked again
ideas ?

Right below the ignition behind the lower dash panel is where the alarm system connects into the wiring harness. Disconnect the alarm system and the harness allows you to by pass it all together. Do this to at least see if it's something else or your alarm system. That's where I'd start.

The receiver for the remote is in the rear hatch, which is part of the computer that controls everything in the rear hatch (defroster, window rolling, wiper, etc.).
I would suspect you have at least one broken wire that leads to the hatch inside the rubber boot. That wire can sometimes 'connect' itself and allow the rear hatch to work for a while...

ok so months ago, having an issue with the door locks, I found that my door switch driver side ( the one that controls the domelights and also tells the ECU if a door is open or not) was bad,
so of course being in a hurry I ordered a non Toyota off amazon, everything worked great.
then about a month later I had to order a bunch of stuff to do my timing belt, (Asin from amazon, but a bunch of other parts from Toyota), so ordered a Toyota dome light switch, which I have not installed yet.
So this aftermarket one is only about 6 months old. Guess what, its crap, I noticed last night, when I open the door that has the aftermarket switch, my dome lights are flickering just like last time when I had issues
I bet this is my issue
