What made you change the design for the rear bump stops on 5th gen?

@ Plastics guy
your 5.25” bump stops for a 3rd Gen 4Runner states, “intended for stock suspension trucks or mild lifts up to 1.5″. I have a 3” lift. Would these work or do I need taller bump stops?

It depends on how you lifted your 4runner. If you just put in taller springs that increased the ride height, you would want the 3.5 bumps. If you also installed longer shocks that don't compress as much as the stock shocks you will need the 5.25 bumps.
You want the bumps to be able to fully compress before the shocks bottom out.

Yep. And the only way to know, and understand for sure, is to remove your coils and cycle the suspension. Once fully stuffed with the shock fully bottomed take a tape measure and measure from the axle to the frame. Whatever that number is will dictate what length bump you need. It's so easy to do yet hardly anyone does. They just guess. lol

I installed the OME 861 springs and Bilstein 5100 shocks. Probably will go with the 5.25 bumps.

If the Bilstien shocks are for a 3rd gen 4runner you will want to use the 3.5" bumps. If the shocks are for a Tundra then yes, get the 5.25 bumps.

I can tell you...you dont want to bottom out the shocks....often anyway...blew through some and the only thing I can think of is that they bottomed out a few too many times

I got the shocks from Wheeler's Offroad ( 5100 Rear Shock Set for 1996-2002 4Runner (1.5"-3" Lift)) so I bought specifically for the 4Runner, however, I am not sure if these shocks are really for a 4Runner or for a Tundra.
Thanks for all the feedback!

That's for the 1999-2006 Tundra. the ones for the 4Runner are for 0 - 2" of lift only

Thanks for confirming that! I wasn't sure if they were from a Tundra or not since this was the first time buying from Wheelers, not knowing if they would utilize interchangeable parts.
@ Plastics guy
, I just bought these. Recommendation from

What happens if it is placed in the front instead of the rear?
Also, can the front bump stops of the GX470 work for the 1996-2002 4Runner? Will it give a luxury bump feel?

Thanks.
