5 speed swap help!
I have a 97 v6 t4r that i just installed a 5 speed tranny in that was out of a 97 v6 4runner. I swapped the engine harness and the ECU. I can get the engine to turn over but it will not start. The battery was disconnected for like 2 months while i did the swap. I tried to use a scan-tool to see what the ECU was doing and it will not connect. Also when I turn the ignition to "ON" i don't get a check engine light. Any input or tests i should try will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Sounds like your Circuit Opening Relay(COR) isn't getting power. Did you do the wiring necessary to jump the Neutral Safety switch?
Do you have a wiring diagram for your rig?

I don't have a wiring diagram for my truck, not sure if i did the NSW right or not. all i keep finding is people that reused the auto harness and made it work. I'm so confused at this point i have been reading swap threads for 4 days now

Did you check for spark and fuel ?

I don't think this gets fixed over the internet. Any swap requires detailed electrical planning or it won't work, and you don't even have the diagram. That part I can fix.
Assuming you got it mostly there, this needs some hands on circuit tracing to check fuel pump, ignition, COR, sensors, etc. to get it running. Internet guesses ain't gonna do it. You may well have more than one fail, so even a good guess may not help.
Where are you located? Maybe someone on here will volunteer to come help you out.

I was working off the only FSM i could find which was a little newer and had things i didn't thank you for the wiring diagrams those should help. I'm in central CT but hopefully i can get it straight. Is there a way to test the ECU? I'm trusting the guy that sold this to me that everything was working.
Thanks, Dan

The only test for an ECU is swap in another ECU. It is unlikely to be the issue (although possible) given the facts. It is certainly the LAST thing you should worry about compared to basic tests like spark, fuel, etc.

Im not getting power threw the efi relay so i jumped it with a small wire and my engine light lights up but i cant figure out why the EFI relay isn't getting power. But i broke the starting relay trying to get it out so off to the store i go.

Hey, that's progress. You did test your IGN fuse with a light or meter, or swap in a new one, right?
Don't just look at a suspect fuse and call it good. Rookie mistake. Best practice is to make sure that fuse has power at both ends with key on with a test light..
The EFI relay should swap with the Power Window Relay if you want to test (Check p/n's to be sure). But check incoming power at IGN fuse first. If power is good, disconnect battery and check continuity between IGN fuse and EFI relay Pin 2. That will yell you if it is your wiring.
If you know all this, say so. I assume people that ask for help may not know the basics. A lot don't.

5 speed swap help!
The wiring is so straight-forward if you have the EWD man. Toyota.techinfo is where you can get the EWDs, and you'll be able to sort this all out easily.
It doesn't matter if you use an auto or manual engine harness, the body harness is still setup for the auto configuration, so you still need to jump the neutral switch behind the glove box- where the engine harness plugs into the body harness.
Just saw Durk posted the starting circuit EWD.
Jump the White/Black to the Black/Red at the II3 connector behind the glove box, and that's the only wiring needed to start your 5 speed swap. If you've already done other wiring, you may have made your problem greater.

So I feel like a dumba** I finally figured it out. the AM2 30a fuse was blown. To be honest I didn't really know what that fuse even controlled. Also have no idea what i did for it to blow. Now i know what it does. Thanks again for your guys help.
Thanks Dan
