I found the locking tabs are always brittle on reassembly I glue the cases back together and then zip tied them to help prevent separation.

I managed to finish the last door this afternoon. Passenger side rear, but in process I broke the retainer clip that hold the arm on that connects to the door handle. No it slips off, any idea where to buy a replacement?

Source for 3rd gen liftgate Lock. Actuator. Control.

Hi Guys, I've scoured the net (including this site!) for suppliers and wreckers for a 3rd gen liftgate Lock. Actuator. Control.#6969035011 for my 1998 4runner with no success. I can't believe Toyota has discontinued this vital part, (can't open the rear liftback door lock without it as far as I can figure!). Am I missing something here, is there a reliable hack of some kind, or something that can be fabricated? This is driving me nuts, any suggestions appreciated!

Locks, or electric?

Every couple of months, the locks refuse to move using the fob.

Next day, they're fine, and everything is normal for many weeks until it happens again.

Is this the motors or a sign of a greater electrical issue?

Door Handle Fail

I replaced the front driver's side actuator motor on my 2017 last night. That part was simple and all seems to be in working order as my key fob can again lock and unlock the door.

However, now the outside door handle is not working. Did I knock something loose when removing the actuator? I'm sure it is a simple fix, but I have not had time to look into the issue.

If your 4runner is a 2017 that’s a 5th gen, this is the 3rd gen section so you probably won’t get much help here

4 years late, but thought I'd include this for those googlers like me.

You can still get it into programming mode by manually using the key in the lock rather than the lock/unlock switch on the door. So you don't need to have a functioning actuator to program it.

Though it also means your fob won't lock/unlock that door so it's a bit of a wash
