R150F rebuild kit
I think my transmission is taking a shit on me. This would be my second R150F taking a shit. I still have my old one. I am leaning towards rebuilding my old one rather then finding one at a junkyard. Has anyone rebuild the R150F? What kid did you use? how long has it been? Im looking for a quality kit. Id rather rebuild it and know what I did and how the transmission has been in my hands.
By the way, im getting really annoyed with 3rd gen. As much as they last long and reliable. This has been nothing but a headache. Almost after every trail ride there is something wrong with it. Ive been fixing shit left and right. And all the parts ARE OEM. I don't cut corners.

"Manuals last longer than autos" lolol I love when someone argues that.
Marlin Crawler sells kits, but it's probably some aftermarket seals with some Nachi bearings. You might be able to piece it together for less. It's an old truck at the end of the day, and wheeling(especially in the NE where it's just rocks under mud) tends to wear things out and make them feel shitty. Otherwise, a new truck with a warranty is always nice. Hear a rattle? Make the dealer fix it. There's always flipsides to everything.

Mine just got a LUK rebuild kit, but only a month ago. Also it was a swap out of a cheap deal $250 5 speed with only 125k on it that seemed damn good when cracked open, so in hindsite didn't really need the rebuild. But my shot synchro on the previous one really annoyed me so I wanted to make sure that this one was 100% good.

Auto has come a long way. But with 3rd gen. Manual is superior. In my mind. But then again. I wheel my truck. And this was a junkyard transmission.

All LUK in the 5 speed, and the rear end with 300K just got a full rebuild with LUK. Hopefully holds up well to my abuse.

That shop doesn't have a clue about Toyotas then. Try another, you most definitely have a R150F.

Well, the R151 is the 4cy turbo R series trans.
But regardless, you definitely have an R150F, and don't ever call that shop again

I don’t know. Some shop called “drivetrain”. I know my shit. So I know for a fact it’s a r150f. Hate when people confuse me !!
But, I called marlin crawler. They don’t sell a rebuild kit for newer r150f. BUT THEY REBUILD THEM! wtf does that mean? Apparently older r150f are different then newer ones. Ok! https://www.marlincrawler.com/transm...-kit-1988-1091
Up to 1991.
I called few other places they can’t even get stuff for Toyota’s.

Apparently, they used different parts in different years of the r150f for the 3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen tacoma. Thats what they told me awhile back when I asked about a rebuild kit.

Yeah apparently. But they said they do rebuilds. Just that they don’t sell it. And I can’t find r150f rebuild for 3rd gen. I think at this point I’ll just bite the bullet and go to PA New Castle. 6 hour drive. Apparently it’s 40k transmission for $600
