Can I use 881's with KYB Gas-A-Just struts?

Don't shout me down! I've been digging on this site and others for an hour now and can't find the answer to my question. By my measurement, I'd have to compress the 881 about 3.25" to expose enough thread on the strut to get the strut plate on. That doesn't make any sense to me. Why did I buy this tall coil just to compress the tar out of it?
I bought the coils from Travis at Wheeler's Offroad and told him I'd be using KYB's. He recommended the 881's.
Current set up:
2002 Sport Edition (288,000 miles and all mine!!)
Front: Monroe Quick Strut - Fender to ground - 35.5"
Rear: KYB Gas-A-Just with Raybestos Coils - Fender to ground - 34.5"
The KYB's are new last fall; one of the rear Monroe's snapped off during a grouse hunt.
So, do I...
A) Assemble and install, it will work just fine.
B) Get different springs
C) Get different struts

Thank you!

It'll work well when you assemble it. The spring is longer than the shock so that it has some preload once it's assembled, that preload is what's going to give you a higher ride height.

Overall the assembly will be the same length as it was with the stock springs on it, but the new coils will not compress as far with the weight of the 4runner on them, so the shocks will end up being about 1.5" further out in their stroke at ride height, giving you 3" of lift.

Thank you!

Ok, one more question for you. Can you tell me the order of assembly for the bushings and washers on the strut? I marked the photo with my guess. The close up of the strut plate shows why I’m guessing I don’t need the smaller bushing and the other washer.
Thanks again!

Hi PowrPly

Did you end up getting the 881's installed with your KYB struts? I've tried looking all over the web for this combo's ride quality.
I'm about to do the same and wanted to check how the ride quality is.

Thanks in advance!
