16x8" Konig Countersteer Type X

Anyone running with these wheels?

I did my best with search here and on the web, but to no avail...

Curious if they have been off road'd and how they have held-up. Will they allow for the TBU?

I have them. They've held up fine. They clear the 231 tundra brakes too.

Nate, thanks much for chiming-in. How long have you had them? To be clear, you have the 16" wheels, not the 17s? I know that the Tundra brakes fit all 17s, and some 16s... Thanks again.

Once I get the rear shock and spring of choice figured-out, purchased and delivered, the plan was to then address all four corners. That said, I could install the front Kings before I get the rears, and just do zero lift. I'll think about that Brian...

While looking at the tire tread, I decided that I'd like to replace the tires before our next venture to Tahoe this Winter. Knowing I want new wheels, I'd rather put new tires on those, of course. And, I really like these Countersteer wheels. They remind me Volk/Ray's TE37s actually, which I've had before. Don't want to spend that kind of money again though. Four of these Countersteers for the price of one Volk...

Accurate to say that 265/75/16s (approx 32") should present no fitment issues, even the spare in it's factory location? I seem to recall reading that this it's the largest 16" tire to fit without modifications...

They were on the truck when I bought it and I've had it for a few years now. No complaints about the finish or quality and I drive it pretty hard when I'm able to get it out and into the wild haha. Yes, I have the 16x8's

That's what I was hoping to hear. I found my wheels! Next, tires... Thanks much.

@mikeferg is running these wheels as well...

Pictures of mikes rig

He set me on the path toward buying a set for my rig. They are beautiful wheels... light and very well made. My only complaint is that the powder coat chips easily. I have dinged mine a few times torqueing lugs, and they already have several rock chips.

I've wheeled with mine quite a bit, but haven't had them in any serious rocks yet (moab, etc). I think they are going to look pretty rough after they meet a tough trail or two. The finish on mine is gloss graphite gunmetal. I wanted anthracite gunmetal but it was no longer being produced when I ordered. I would definitely talk to Dustin at FN by phone prior to ordering and ask if maybe other finishes are more durable. He will answer any questions you have and fill you in on all the options.

Damn those look nice, and Mike's 4Runner too!

Yup, quite light at like 18.5 lbs, for the 16s. I like light for sure, but that had me a bit concerned about durability. I appreciate your feedback, which was very balanced, with some of the good and not so good... I'm leaning toward the matte black, but I will certainly engage Dustin and get his input. While searching here I found him in various threads, but it seems that he hasn't been to the forum in a while... Thanks again.

With these wheels being 16x8 and a BS of 4.5, would I be able to clear 33s or 285x75x16s, with full range of motion (articulation), clearing the UCAs?

After quite a bit of reading here, a while ago, that is what made my notes. There were others who said nope, that 265/75/16s (approx 32s) is the max. It seems that those folks were not taking into account BS and/or wheel width though. If 16x8 wheels, with a 4.5" BS, 285x75x16s (approx 33s) should fit without issues.

I'd appreciate some feedback from those with experience before I decide upon some tires for these wheels. Of note, I will have adjustable SPC UCAs too, which should further help, I would think...

285s mounted on a 16x8 wheel with 4.5" BS will clear the stock UCA no problem. SPC arms add to the clearance between the tire and the UCA thanks to their design. You should have no issues.

Also, there are two versions of this wheel, and 4.5" BS is not your only option. Mine are option two.

BFAD to the rescue again. Thanks for confirming. There were quite a few people here who felt otherwise, but ultimately my takeaway was that 285s were indeed doable, depending upon the 16s of choice. Happy to hear that. Dare I ask about true 33s? And, different versions of this wheel, an option two? I PMd Dustin a couple days ago, but no response. As you said, I should ring him... Thanks again.

I ended-up reaching Dustin over email, and he responded immediately. There are indeed two options. I was hoping for a hubcentric 106mm bore...

From Dustin:

We have two versions for your 4Runner:

Version 1

16x8" +0mm offset 6x139.7mm PCD (108mm center bore)
Includes metal push thru center caps with 108mm outside diameter and matching flange to the wheel chamfer and 106.2mm inside diameter to center the wheel on your hub.
We also include 108-106 hub centric rings in the event you do not want to use caps.

Version 2

16x8" -20mm offset 6x139.7mm PCD (106.2mm center bore - hub centric)
The wheels include flat snap-in center caps.
Due to the design of the 16x8" -20mm offset version (extremely deep lip and shallow hub along with hub centric center bore) you will not be able to use the center cap on the front wheels if you have a 4WD model, due to the factory axle cover height. The wheels will fit perfectly, but you'll just have to leave the caps off the front wheels.

There was a thread that FN has not been responsive lately and they might have closed-up shop.

I ended-up going with SCS wheels, these in 17s:
