Fuel gauge issue

I’ve searched and have seen where problems come from the resistor on the back of the cluster. Mine is “sticking” sometimes. It will stick at close to empty, then if I’m lucky it will slowly and I mean slowly creep up to the proper place. Other times, if I cycle the key on and off it will unstick itself.. to me this seems like a float problem. Would a faulty resistor cause this??

You can quickly rule out the cluster by swapping it out. Good if you can grab a cheap one somewhere. My 99 fuel gauge cluster issue had the gauge fluctuating like yours as I think I recall. I seem to remember I read they have bad solder joints, but not 100% sure on that.
