While I never thought about that, and it's a good point, but for me, that's still not a good reason to cut a hole, deal with antenna issues, etc. to install this snorkel as kewl as it looks. YMMV.

Just change your air filter twice a year and problem solved.

Snorkels become a bit of a necessity once you have to pull the fender liners for 35s.

lets try this again...
(EDIT, can't get my photos to show up)

@mesooohoppy I'll get to updating my thread one day lol... I added the pre-cleaner because I do a lot of desert driving where the dust is rampid. Cut the snorkel tube down about 2" and then had to modify/persuade this pre-cleaner to fit inside the tube as opposed to the ram-air style which goes over the snorkel tube.

The pre-cleaner has another advantage of not being a straw for water when driving in the rain.

This looks like a good option. Nice to see a review for an item that normally would not get reviewed.

Welp just received mine in the mail the other day, might try to do the install this weekend. Seems like there is mixed reviews on wether the template lines up perfect or not, I guess if I have to widen the hole the snorkel should still cover it.. Even though I have a switch for the power antenna and I don’t use it I’m hoping I can make it work because I’d prefer not to have to buy the Tacoma whip or the stubby antenna.. Also I’m guessing I’m going to have to clearance my CBI ditch light brackets a bit.

I can guarantee you it is not worth fighting the auto mast to get it to work and yes you will need to lob off some of your ditch light brackets and drill a new hole.

I’m local and can give you a hand if you want, there’s a mod day going of if interested. I just installed mine a few weekends ago. Also definitely have to clearance for the CBI ditch light brackets. I basically cut the new edge at the hole and drilled a new hole.
