Temperature control switch issue

Hi, my 2002 has working a/c and heat but the switch that turns from heat to cold does not move the cable that moves the valve to the heater core in front of the fire wall. I've been searching but can't find any info. I do not have the auto climate control but I believe that the cable may still be electronically controlled. Can anyone give me a tip of diagnosing this further?
Thx

Pretty common prob for the control unit to simply stop working currently dealing with this now, I found a company that remans (Quality Rebuilt Automotive Electronics | Automotive Scientific Inc)them and plan on ordering one when I get the chance, luckily I have mine stuck on Hot.. Best bet is to pull the dash apart and inspect the cabling u maybe get lucky and find actuator broke.

Ok, thanks. I have my cable detached from the diverter at the firewall so I can manually switch it between hot and cold. Cable won't move when I pull on it under the hood.
