Very infrequent "Groan" from front? Driverside at speed.

2wd, 2002, 120k

I notice that totally randomly just going down the freeway at speed I get this "groan" or "moan" from where I can't tell.

Happens once in a blue moon. I was on an 8 hour trip and it did it twice. A one hour trip and it did it once. Going straight forward. Just chillin out. No turns. no bumps....

odd

Maybe wheel / hub bearings are on their way out?

When I'm driving into a strong crosswind I randomly have a noise that almost sounds like one of the horns is halfway blowing. I haven't tracked it down yet, maybe a loose bumper or body panel vibrating in the perfect conditions...

Check your cross bars on the roof...they can vibrate in the wind.

If I'm driving in a crosswind over a certain speed the downwind front door whistles almost like a flute only much lower pitched. Probably not your problem because in mine the source of the noise is obvious but worth mentioning.
I have thought about trying to tighten the door against the body but haven't made the attempt yet.

I have that groan, except mine is much more frequent. I've chased it for 3 years now to no avail. It's not wheel bearings, or tires, or wheels or the rear driveshaft, or the engine... I suspect it's the front diff (rear diff bearings were shot and made noise) or the CV Axle.

However, like someone else said, they make noise. Every high mileage Toyota truck/4Runner I've owned had driveline vibrations or humming to some extent. Go out and enjoy it and know things will wear out, it's only a matter of time. But it's not going to explode on you.

It could be the front diff driver side needle bearing. An East Coast Gear Supply bushing might be your answer.
