P1127

I went and got a new battery yesterday, they gave me the wrong one and I didn't notice the terminals were reversed until it was too late. The truck wouldn't start and no electrical. I got it home and replaced the alternator fuse and the truck would not start but I was getting it to try to turn over.

I finally got the truck started and running but now the VSC OFF and VSC Trac are both lit up along with the CEL. The throttle is giving almost no response as well. I have to almost floor it before I get any response and it won't really go anywhere. I do have a P1127 code which looks like it's "ETCS Actuator Power Source Circuit Malfunction" but the ETCS fuse is good and only the towing fuse was blown other than the alt fuse.

I don't see anything obviously wrong with the harness but it could be somewhere I can't see.

The vehicle is a 2002 Sport, stock.

Any ideas? Could it be the ECM?

Thanks

Battery reverse is always an interesting time, I'd look for other fuses blown, I would remove the fuses and look at it to make sure it didn't get hot, they'll be a dark spot center, anything that was turned on when you hooked up the battery and hit the key can be damaged,,,once I go through all the fuses I a cap drop on the system to reset it to 0....{hook the positive and negative battery cables together} half hour is usually enough time,,when you start it after hooking the battery back up make sure the ac and all loads are off,,,start it and don't touch anything for about ten minutes...then slowly add loads like heat or ac,,I go through each gear while parked nice n slow to get the trans in sync too...if you still have stuff not right you'll need more help...but give this a try.
what year is this runner??

Thanks for the reply. I thought I had that in there but it's a 2002 sport. Would the battery need that if it's brand new? I'll give it a shot either way though.

Thanks

Per our beloved FSM a P1127=Open in ETCS power source circuit or ECM.

One or both are most likely fried and/or shorted. Check out page 294 of FSM for details of how to test each.

That cap discharge isn't for the battery its to clear all memory out of the pcm for learned adapt,,,I'm hoping you didn't blow the pcm,,,most of the time you blow the inputs not outputs.
