Changed oil 5.5 quarts shows low
Never had a issue. Changed my oil. Filled it with 5.5. It’s showing below first dot. Wtf. No leaks, everything is bone dry. How is this happening ? Parked on flat driveway.

Yup - noticed that a long, long time ago.
Mine takes closer to 6 1/8 to show full on level ground.
Someone did not measure correctly.

Guess I’ll let it sit so it drains to the bottom. Measure and fill till it reads normal. I guess 5.5 quarts isn’t the correct amount lol?
Could I have really gotten not full bottles? 3 cans were from Walmart and 2 were from autozone.

Maybe it was the Jersey Devil. Anywhere from 5.75 to 6.2 quarts needed depending how long I let the old stuff drain out.

Missing oil
Happened to me as well. I purchased a 6 qt box of 5-30W at Walmart (Oil came in box and was in a large plastic bag). I used 5.5 in my guestimation as the container did not have any markings on it. I had to use the remainder of oil to bring it up to specs. Never happened before.

I swear the amount of oil mine takes changes every time. It's usually between 5.5 and a little over 6 quarts. Plan ahead and make sure you buy enough.

6 Quarts of oil every time gents. If you drain properly and replace filter - must put in 6 quarts.

That's been my experience, especially using the longer filter. That is, checking level after a quick run to check for leaks.
Sometimes it ends *slightly* overfilled, but that also hasn't been a problem.

Yeah I always put 6 also. Idk why I put 5.5 this time. But it wasn’t enough. I don’t think it’s low enough to **** any up. Put a quart and a half almost. To bring it to the second dot.

This thread is great, I thought I was crazy with my engine swap and changing the oil. My old USDM engine took 5.5 quarts with a filter change right to the top of the full level. First oil change with my JDM engine, 5.5 doesn't even register on the level between the dots. 6.0 quarts brings it acceptable. So weird.

This is what happened to me last weekend when I changed my oil... OEM filter and 6 quarts to full. Checked the next morning and was right at the full dot.
