5vzfe from tundra in to t4r

I searched...couldn't find (please direct me if I am just an idiot and missed it...)

Time to replace the motor in the t4r. Have a line on a 5vzfe out of a 2004 tundra...any reason it wouldn't work in my '98 t4r?

I wouldn’t see why not, but yea I don’t know.. Curious to see what you find out in this thread. The thing that would help the most IMO is you’ll still have all the components from your engine so any parts slightly different just reuse from your engine or buy new if in bad shape..

oil pan is different not a huge deal just clean it and swap your old one over.

you will need to plug that hole where the T100 dipstick used to be in the block. the 4runner has the front mounted dip stick location.

sorry I don't have that part number for the plug. I know I have it someplace.

I had a T100 block I put into my 4runner... this is the plug piece you will need. somebody like yotashop would know the part number. it's only like a $3 part and you could just tap the existing plug and jam a bolt into it. that was yodashops initial suggetion when they sent me the wrong part.

here is exactly what you will want to do. easier to knock that plug out once the pan is off.

He's just swapping a 5vzfe, not doing a 2uz swap

Awesome...that is what I was hoping. We have the old motor - still running in the truck but it burns 5 quarts in between changes and doesn't leak a drop. Rebuild seems like a costly endeavor especially when this tundra motor has 118kmi on it for 700 bucks. Weekend job to pull and replace.

I did read over that singletoe thread and REALLY want to do do that. It just takes time we don't really have.

Thanks for the feedback. Will update this thread as we progress.

Five quarts? Wow. How much blow by do you have going on?
If it were me I would go to Walmart, buy some Marvel Mystery Oil for $4, pour 6 to 8 ounces in the crankcase and drive it and see if that slows down the rapid burn off. Ultimately though the replacement of the engine is your best bet.
