Motor & Transmission Mounts OE or Autoparts Store

I’ve found the answer to questions like this, is it just depends on what it is. A starter or alternator SHOULD be OE, well any electrical device really, short of the battery. But when it comes to brake pads, drums, or rotors, the non OE works well if not better in some cases. Though in the case motor mounts, I honestly do not know. Has anyone had a bad experience with non OE motor mounts? The cost alone is a pretty wide margin.

Thanks for your input.

Motor/trans/diff mounts are kinda important. No experience and haven't really read one way or the other but I'd go the extra cost and get OEM.

A mounts job seems easy but it has to be built to spec to hold things in place just so, too loose and other things wear/break, too tight and other things wear/break. I don't like either possibility so I'd go OEM to sleep better.

Now back to that budget.....enjoy that Runner!

With how tight that engine bay is, I wouldn't dick around with aftermarket. I've never actually seen a 3rd gen with bad engine mounts.

Same. When I did my engine swap on my 98, after 20 years and 221k miles the rubber only showed mild cracking. I didn't bother replacing them. However, the rear motor mount (transmission) isn't too hard to change out. Mine's drenched in oil so I might down the road.

Now if these were Hondas...

Yea, at the end of the day the OEM would likely perform better. The job itself is not to difficult and after watching YouTube

Pretty sure I’ve got this.

The truck has 425,000 miles on her and the exhaust is rattling against the frame at a stop. I replaced the exhaust hangers (OEM) and the problem still exists. So I’m guessing it’s the motor mounts.

Price wise for the motor mounts (2), and the transmission mount (4WD AT).

Camelback Toyota Parts $226.62.

NAPA $138.67.

Advanced Auto $122.81 using the honey app and a few coupons.

Autozone $127.18 with honey app and a few coupons.

The first ones lasted 20 years... (if that's what is really causing the problem) why not go OEM again?

Saving 50% is false economy. Aftermarket parts (in most cases) last much less than the savings you get from buying them.

I replaced my trans mount (with OEM!), but only because I was doing a 4WD swap and the donor vehicle was in a rollover, which often damages engine/trans mounts.

Did more research and came across this thread. Apparently it’s my muffler jamming up the works and causing a vibration. I did video my transmission a while back and no massive amount of movement.

Does this look correct for the motor mounts

Driver side

Passenger side

I was pretty sure they were supposed to be centered.
