Windshield brands

What do you guys think of the brand “FUYAO”

Since pilkington glass can no longer be sourced my guy is suggesting we use this glass..

Does anyone have any experience with this glass?

DOT 459

Looks like Made in USA, and they are really pushing the quality on the site.

Advanced American Auto Glass | Fuyao Glass America

I can tell you that PPG glass is crap, and most of the other aftermarket brands are hit or miss.

I have it. Nothing bad to say. I guess it's not OEM.

Nope, not the windshield pictured. DOT 459 is HONGLU TOWN FUJIAN PROVINCE CHINA. Fuyao Glass America is DOT 1038.

DOT 459.
I just had that glass installed about 2 months ago and have had no issues with clarity or the rippling some have mentioned... The one issue I've noticed is the glass seems to pit a little easier. They sand our roads for the snow and this windshield seems to be more susceptible to pitting because of it.
On the flip side I had a truck kick up a pretty nice sized stone the other day and the the windshield didn't crack, just left a nice little pit.

I noticed the same thing. My old windshield was beat up pretty bad but it had been on there for 18 years. The new aftermarket one that was put on was nice and clear for about a month. Still looks lightyears better than my old one but I don't think it'll last another 18 years, which I am ok with.

Also, in case it wasn't mentioned our glass is bronze. Not green.

Anyone in the SF Bay Area have a rec on a windshield replacement location/company? Recently got a star/chunk taken out which then cracked beyond repair with the defroster a few cold mornings later...

Need to figure out an option for replacement at some point.

When I first got my 4Runner I didn't know any better and ordered a new windshield. The one that came in wasn't bronze and I had it installed anyway. I kick myself almost daily so make sure you order the proper tinted glass.

@infamousRNR I know that this is almost 11 months after you posted but I just had a Fuyao window put into my 1997 and I have Zero complaints!

I was worried about waves or other optical imperfections but there are NONE what so ever.

It's only day one so maybe I'll have a complaint next week? Doubt it!.

Anyone see the Netflix documentary on this company? Looks like they treat their employees horribly. I need a new windshield but after watching the documentary I might try and find another brand, although I am sure any Chinese based company is the same.

This past summer I replaced my original 20 yr old glass OEM Toyota windshield on insurance coverage (Massachusetts mandatory glass coverage), had a bunch of chips, small crack and was sand blasted, but was good at taking a beating for 20 years.
The glass shop replaced with some generic glass. 2 weeks later a dump truck threw a small stone and sent a nice big crack across the middle, not sure if it was weaker glass or just inevitable from the stone, but small stones hit my windshield all the time on the highway. Its still cracked, I plan on replacing it, hopefully with some stronger glass.

There is such a big difference between quality glass and the cheap stuff, the previous owner of my 4runner had the windshield replaced and whatever brand is on there is terrible, it has such big variances in the surface that the windshield wipers don't work properly. PGW seems to be a reputable glass brand that a few member on here have used. I just called my local dealer and they can still get the OEM glass but they want 850 for it.

Ok thanks, I'll see if there are any good glass options with my insurance coverage.
