Driveline vibration > old post

I`m experiencing the same drive line vibration that was posted a few years ago here but I can`t find that thread again. `98 4runner 4WD. Vibration is becoming a slight hum thru the drive line when applying power or cruising...…….. stops on deceleration. It`s become noticibly stronger but not real objectionable. I`ve found a slight bit of looseness in the front u-joint of the rear drive shaft`s `double front`but not what I`d call much play. I just bought three u-joints ( two front & one rear ) and will have them replaced next week. I`d like to find that post and respond to it...……. Any help is certainly appreciated.

If you have someone tackling the rear shaft front joints there is the DC joint to contend with. Consider a full driveshaft rebuild with balance, but make sure they really know what they're doing, other option is buying a new driveshaft, but twice the cost.
Here's my post regarding the DC joint -
Double Cardan rebuild

Agree - I had a bad drive line vibration that was only resolved with a new/rebuilt driveshaft including the u-joints.

Me too, but it wasn't nearly as expensive as the prices I am seeing in these threads.

Maybe it's because I have a 2wd.
