GNTX-177 rear view mirror help

This happened to my old gntx-177 out of no where. So I bought used one. Plugged it in, worked fine till I went to calibrate it. Then the same as the old one. Anyone what the issue could be ? I go to calibrate it and it just jumps to that screen where everything us lit up!

Bump, anyone? It’s a pretty common aftermarket mirror. There isn’t much troubleshoot manuals or anything. I don’t know why this happens. I actually plugged my old one back. And it started to show the temp and compas. Then after 10 mins boom. Back to that screen.

@kolelt

I have no definite answer to fix the problem, but with the knowledge that it does it to both, I would say it might have something to do with the outside temp sensor being faulty.

Mine went bad recently (screen went dim) and put a used one and did the same thing "CAL" for few days and self healed to show proper direction and temperature. I can't recall it showed the entire screen lit.

This is the only GM product I have in my runner and that is the only thing that failed for last 2-3 years.

The first one I bought from you. And the second used one is from eBay. Both basically act the same. So it’s something...no idea what. Going to try to replace the temperature sensor. Although if temp sensor was bad. Why would it cause everything to lit up and just the temp to not work.

It's almost like the display is stuck in a test pattern.
Like when we first turn the ignition key on ( with engine off) and all the warning lights in the dash lights up for a second then go off.

Exactly. But swapping mirrors helped for few mins lol. Today I drove my truck. Turned the mirror display on. Boom it’s working! Going to see how long it will work. Very random, unpredictable.

Glad it started working. I am so used to check the temperature especially in the winter to watch for black ice, and when it is not working, I feel I am not safe!
