Retiring my 96 and have question on 2001 I might buy

So, my '96 T4R has been a good and economical friend for several years, but has reached the "good money after bad" threshold so I'm looking into replacing it.

A one-guy used dealer on the other side of town has a couple that are decent and close to what I'll pay.

The one I have question on for y'all, is a 2001 Limited with 154,000 miles. Truck is very clean and drives mostly okay. Acceleration isn't best and I found P0100 and P0110 engine codes which I'm not worried about - probably the cause of the rough running and something I'm confident fixing.

What is curious is the B2796 "no communication to immobilizer system" code.

Does the 2001 have the immobilizer? if so, any ideas how ugly this could be to fix? If not, why the code?

I do most repairs myself, but defer things like transmission, ECU, steering and front end, etc. to the professionals.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Bought 01 Ltd 4x4 auto 198k mi 2-2017 I assumed would be as reliable as other years.
Lots of people get long life out 01-02's some don't with the 3 areas of concern.
01 is 1st MY of major changes to ABS/MC, Trac Sys, AWD Trans.
ABS/MC - certain parts are expensive rebuild is possible on other parts of it.
Trac Sys ECU - does fail for no apparent reason, $1600 new, for now used $300 range.
Trans is different than previous years can only be replaced with 01-02,
Failures have been happening with O/D planetary assembly more than any other MY.
The 01 I bought had a bad Trac ECU was a $2k bargaining chip PO had got estimate from dealer.
I replaced ECU $285.00, have put 13k mi on 01 since purchase no problems so far. A member here has 300k+ mi or so with zero problems.
