Sorry for the lack of progress. I'm poor and doing this on one hell of a budget. I picked up a parts frame a friend of mine had at someone else's house. Plan was to use all the 4wd parts off of it but unfortunately it had an add diff, one automatic hub, one manual hub missing the lock assembly and the t case was full of water and rusted up internally. I acquired a manual front diff and manual hubs and axles today. Need to clean and reboot the axles and paint the spindles but hopefully that will all be going onto my frame soon along with a set of 06 sequoia brakes we have on a parts truck.

Make sure you use the matching rear diff ratio to that front... Worst case, just swap the passenger side output tube over to a matching diff to your rear.

I'm going to steal the ring and pinion gears out of the truck the front diff came out of. The front diff is a 3.90. Since I'm doing the v8 and it's going to be my daily that ratio should be fine. We have 3 Tacoma locker rear ends so I'm using the chunk out of one of those and just going to regear to match the front diff.

Small update. Got my new inner cv boots finally and got the cv axles reassembled. Also decided not to use the diff I had originally installed which was a 3.90 and found a 4.10 ADD diff and swapped the ADD tube out for a manual diff tube. My new upper ball joint boots should be here tomorrow and I'm also hoping to pick up a good transfer case tomorrow. So far all of the 4wd parts are installed in the frame and the 06 sequoia brakes are finished with new rubber brake lines. Brake lines I bought 7 years ago for my first 4runner and never installed. Glad I hung on to them all that time. Sorry about the slow progress. Hoping to pick up on it soon. Got the 4runner unburied the other day so I just need to get the frame finished up so I can swap it out.

Finally got a good j shift transfer case today. Took awhile to get it out of the parts Tacoma we have. It's wrecked so bad the floor was buckled into the transfer case and the front driveshaft was in the transmission pan. And because I got impatient I decided to throw the swap into the frame. Still need my motor mounts.

No pictures today but I went to the pull apart down the road for the 40 percent off sale and got some parts. Got a full carpet, rear heater assembly so I can add that to my truck, non abs front brake lines and the Ps pump off the truck I got my engine from. Need to go back and get all of the rear brake lines off of the non abs truck so I have all of them. Hoping to fab motor mounts this coming week so I should be able to get the body swapped soon!

Got some work done the past 2 days. Stripped the interior of the 4runner. This thing was so nasty inside I just pressure washed the inside lol. Got the tunnel modified for the 4wd shifter and installed it. Installed the rear heater and my new carpet. Need to decide which cluster I'm goi g to use and start wiring that up. Trying to get everything I can done before I start the frame swap. Gave her a bath too. First one in the 3 years it's been sitting.

Great progress. How about a close up under the hood?

Don't haven't the body swapped to the new frame yet. I still need to make my motor mounts. For now I have placed a firewall clip from a wrecked 4runner on the frame I'm building to check clearances. The motor is a little bit too far back so I'm going to have to take a hammer to the firewall by the passenger valve cover but everything else looks good so far. I'm using the 4wd tundra transmission mount but looking at a 4wd 4runner mount it looks like the holes may slightly offset so I may try swapping to that to see if I can push the motor forward just a hair. My transfer case shifter is also 2" too far back so it won't line up with the console. Need to figure that out.

I realized that about 2 words into your response. Had a space cadet moment, what else can I say. Hahaha.

“Excuse me for a moment while I just throw this extra t4r body on for a quick check...”

Lol. You’re doing awesome. How many swap threads get started and disappear into oblivion? There’s a rare breed that has what it takes and it’s still early but it’s obvious you’re getting it done. Really enjoying your progress and style.

That picture of the firewall and engine mock-up looks like a setup that manufacturer actually did for a cutaway presentation of this new motor. Perfect for what you needed. Nice you had it laying around

Keep it up!

The motor mounts are done! Motor is finally attached to the frame. Just need to buy my body lift and I can move the body over. I also got my abs deleted today. Just need to order the master cylinder now!
