Is this a 2002 Sport edition
Looking to buy a 2002 4runner sports edition 2wd and saw this locally on craigslist. Are those the rims that come stock on the sport?

Looks like a sport edition to me. But I wouldn't call myself an expert on trim packages. Hood scoop, flares, and sport badge.
Those rims are not stock. Those look like tundra rims. Sport rims are the "coke bottle" style

90% sure it's a Sport Edition. Has the skid plate and 'Sport Edition' badges on the front doors. Quite possible someone added those along with the hood scoop to an SR5, but unlikely. If the interior is charcoal gray with mesh type seats, it's for sure then a Sport Edition. As for the wheels, they probably just changed the original 5 spoke wheels for the Sequoia/Tundra wheels. It's a pretty common upgrade.
The only weird thing about this truck is, the color of it looks a bit off for Thundercloud Metallic, which was the only silver color that the Sport Edition was offered in. It just looks a few shades too light. Might be a repaint or could just be the camera settings are off.
This is what Thundercloud Metallic looks like:

Ok.. thats good to know thanks for the info. It must be the lighting of the pic since it says silver in the ad. It only has 99k. Is there anything I should look for and if the timing belt and water pump should be replace?

Looks just like my 02 sporty. Except for the Sequioa/Tundra rims (which I'm planning to put on mine).
Covered bumpers, but no side cladding. That's a key, among other things.
Color looks right.

Color is Dorado Gold Pearl, which we’re not offered in a Sport package. The color matched bumpers and I think the sport flares were optional. I know I’ve seen other 01-02’s with chrome bumpers and Millenium Silver sport flares, so I’m guessing it was bought with the Sport flares as an option. The Sport hood is either an aftermarket hood or an original sport hood from another 4Runner that was repainted Dorado Gold. The Sport skid plate was probably bought and added after the truck left the lot.

I’d say that’s it’s a thundercloud silver Sport Edition. I think the first couple of pictures are a bit deceiving, but it definitely doesn’t look like a dorago/dorito gold one.

I was thinking it didn’t look Millenium Silver but now that you mention it, it does look like it’s probably Thundercloud. Another weird thing I just noticed is it has no roof rack or rear spoiler. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything other than a base model without those two options, but maybe someone took them off or ordered them without from the factory

My wife's 2000 limited did not have a roof rack or spoiler. I put a rack on it, but the rear end still looks naked without the spoiler.

This is what my son has. Would you mind telling me what kind of roof rack you put on it? Was it OEM? And were you able to use the mounting holes from the flush rails? Any insight is appreciated.

100% not Dorado Gold (from someone who has Dorado Gold). That's Thundercloud. And it looks like a genuine Sport model

Hawaii! I’m trying to find my way home with my 4runner. The 4runners seem to be well appreciated in HI.
Few months ago on the big island I saw several old 22re trucks with a tall lift and really short tires. It’s an interesting look and I can promise I won’t do that lol. Is that a thing there?
