Sometimes I feel like looking up the previous owner and sending him a thankyou letter

Got her with 146,000 miles, 13 years ago. At 240,000 now and runs better than ever, knock on wood. And I have thrashed the heck out of her. I've gone way to long without oil changes, I've cross-threaded a filter and ran it until the oil pressure light came on. I've towed way more than I should. I've fit full sheets of drywall and plywood in the back. I've driven it daily on the nastiest dirt roads.

It's never even thrown a single code in 13 years.

The only failures have been my own. Ran out of gas once and left the lights on and drained battery another time. It had a starter problem one time but I got it going by tapping on it and was able to drive to the shop.

4 houses, a marriage, 2 kids, a divorce, many road trips and still with me. I love this 4runner.

This is exactly why I love the 4Runner and my car: Always there when I am in need, never gives a headache, don't ask for more, etc.,

Send a thank you card to toyota for making such a wonderful truck. I replaced all light bulbs in the rear with Koito just as a preventative maintenance, but all the old bulbs were ORIGINAL!

Some times I think about the Toyota workers too but I can't write Japanese

What got me all soppy about it is I put in Philips Crystalvision headlight bulbs a few years ago and saw they were burned out already this morning. I cleaned them with isopropyl, wore gloves and everything when I installed them, still burned out. I kept the original 20 year old Japanese bulbs so I put those back in and got to thinking about how solid this 4runner has been. Interior, everything... still perfect.

I would thank the original owner for having a dealer do every single repair, including wiper blades and flat tires
got mine from the dealer with 144k and every single service record.
supposedly it was traded for a Subaru ( same dealer)
HOWEVER, I guess I would be more than likely to thank Toyota

Both Toyota and the previous owner. Toyota has religiously screwed these together to last. 305,000 on my 1988 (gone) and 265,000 on my 2001 (still driving, but leaving soon). Sadly, rust is killing the 2001, but it refuses to break mechanically. Almost everything is original on it. So as long as you can avoid rust, a million miles is an achievable goal in my opinion. Enjoy her!

Yeah I would definitely give mine a **** you letter. Every time a whole bunch of mud and grass falls into my face when I touch anything under the vehicle, two years after purchase and replacing every steering and suspension part....
