OEM Brake Pads?

I've searched the information stickies and for some reson the OEM Front brake pad part number is no where to be found. I keep getting different numbers and/or part numbers that hav been changed over the years on the Toyota parts websites. Anyone know for a 1996 limited with 16" factory wheels part number would be? 0446535240 Or will 04465-AZ103 work?

The 0446535240 are the original semi-metallics that your truck came with, 04465-AZ103 are ceramic replacements. I prefer semi-metallics, even though they're twice the price.

10-4, the $90 set it is then. Thanks for the help.

Me too. Maybe ceramics have improved (I don't know - haven't bought them in a while), but when they first came out, and the first few times after that, when I bought them, I despised them. Sure, they stop better. But since physics can't be defeated, that comes at a price - they eat up rotors much faster.

And then there was that godawful brake dust, that seemed to weld itself onto the wheels. I normally wash my tires and wheels with Blechewhite (sp?). It does a great job at cleaning the tires and removing brake dust. But with ceramic brake dust, I have to get out a spray can of brake cleaner and a brass brush to actually remove it.

I went back to using semi-metallics, and even though they produce noticeably more brake dust, it is very easy to remove. Oh, and I don't have to replace my rotors very often at all, anymore.

Maybe ceramic pads have improved lately, but I don't feel like risking the money to find out and maybe still be very disappointed.

Hate to revive an old thread but just wondering if anyone is running these OEM ceramic pads and how they compare to the original semi-metallics?

I have Akebono ceramics on my IS300 and dislike the lack of grab when they're cold so I can only imagine how much worse it could be with a much heavier SUV.

I put some EBC "green stuff" pads on my wife's 5800lb Range Rover Sport and they do very, very well. Light, easy to clean brake dust too. They should handle a 3500lb 4runner.

If I remember correctly, there's two kinds of brake pad kits offered by Toyota for our vehicles. One is a simple pad kit (which looks like the link above) and the other is a brake kit with pads, shims & grease. I went with the latter kit 4 years ago. I have minimal wear on the pads and great performance, especially when cold or wet. Also have OEM Tundra rotors for extra heat tolerance. I never have to even think about my braking anymore.

The Greenshits for 4Runners are very dusty. I've run them on my 3rd gen and on a GX470, even their more expensive "virtually dust free" line of Greenshits are very dusty.
