Rpreme's 2000 Highlander Mall Crawler

I think its time to start a build/maintenance thread for my 2000 Toyota 4runner SR5 Sport Highlander.

After years of searching I finally purchased this early last year from the original owner that was meticulous and gave me service records in a 3" binder. All maintenance work was done at Toyota in Fresno, CA. Initially searched for a limited with E-locker, but stumbled upon this low mileage non locker SR5 sport with no rust and fell in love.

SCS 17x9 3.5 BS Ray 10

Removed the running boards..

Loved the SCS Ray 10's. When I heard they are finally releasing the 17x9 3.5 BS I was excited... They fit with a little cutting and pounding love..

3/9/19 Install: Matte Gunmetal SCS Ray 10 17x9 3.5 BS with 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers (4ply)

Perfecto! That deep lip is 10/10

Im still waiting for my 17x9 coppers to come in this month, been waiting 7-8 months for mine lol. Im going with the same setup 285/70 with C-load RGs. Its good to see them on a 3rd gen!

Do you have any offset pictures of the poke?

Thanks! Can't wait to see your set mounted.

They stick out about 2" past the limited/ SR5 flares up front and maybe about 2.5" in the rear and look aggressive. Definitely not for everyone. But I love em!

Here are some pics for reference. Please excuse the dirt, I had a little bit of fun through some puddles over the weekend.

Looks mean!

I have a black 1999 Highlander MT with the locker. I'm thinking of deleting the running boards and going to a slightly bigger tire size.

The Ridge Grapplers I have are 285/70/17 (33") and are 4 ply. They are way quieter than the BFG KO2's I had initially and way more forgiving ride wise. So all in all very smooth for being a hybrid tire with AT and Mud Terrain performance.

Beautiful!! What sort of cutting/pounding did you have to do for these to not rub?

Thanks, I really appreciate that. I had to cut the inner front flare and do some pounding. I still rub a little under full lock and articulation. I plan on doing a retub to the front wells to be able to articulate on more aggressive trails. For now its fine for daily driving.

Finally found a full set (inclusive of a spare) TRD Team Trail wheels for the trail. Debating on either 285's or 295's for this set..

A little bit of an update...

Finally got around getting some rubber for the TRD Trail Team FJ Wheels.

Wrapped them with 285/75/16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. I loved the 55k mile warranty so went this route.

Installed the rears no problem. But since I had SPC UCA's they were rubbing. So I had to mitigate the situation by adding a 1" spacer up front..

Clearance up front with the SPC UCA's.

1" BORA Spacers up front to add some clearance.

Final outcome.. Very happy!
