cant speak from experience with this kit, but with the great reviews it has on Amazon for this platform - i'd say it's legit

^^This and might consider doing the crank seal while you're in there for good measure.

That's the one I went with. Click the "Used and New From..." link and buy from Amazon Warehouse Deals.

They list open box items as "Used"

My Aisin TKT-025 kit was $141.54 shipped. Everything was in original packaging, but the outer box was dented.

That's the kit I used and it's a good kit. I suggest buying an OEM front main seal and do both of the cam seals (OEM). My front main seal wasn't leaking but both of my cam seals were leaking.

Also, buy this seal puller. It's works perfect for this job. https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-58430-S...omotive&sr=1-5

Toyota red coolant or Zerex Asian works fine also.

Might as well do the 3 drive belts and upper/lower radiator hose. Thermostat wouldn't hurt either...lol

That should just about do it...

The best kit I could find was the Aircabinman vendor on Ebay. Didn't want to mess around with counterfeit parts. Good ratings. Not the cheapest, but chasing price has its price sometimes.

Ok I will buy the kit from Aircabinman. He has 2 available.#1 is complete toyota kit. #2 is a mix of Denso, Mistsiboshi and Aisin. Now my other question is about gaskets used in waterpump or something else. I have been reading about a "metal gasket". What exactly is this about on 98 4runner. Thank you.

Metal water pump gasket is the one front and center in the aircabin kit. It’s the new style you want.

I've used multiple Aircabinman kits. Very happy with his kits, the parts in them and the price. Used them on 4Runners, a couple of Highlanders (tall Camry wagons), and a V6 Camry too.

One time I tried to save money on eBay buying aa part with what they said were 'OEM ' parts. I got the big box, and inside were a bunch of plain white boxes with black lettering on it. 'OEM' was the brand name. Hahahah. Very funny. It was all cheap knockoff crap, I returned it for a full refund and bought the Aircabinman kit.
