Talking I joined the club today! - and now build thread

I have been looking for a 99-02 Limited 4x4, clean, with a straight body and under 250k. Today I found one!

Inspired by my friend & co-worker Renegade_Medic and his build thread.

He has now created a monster. Thankfully, the wife approves (she loves the green!)
CURRENT PIC (as of Dec. 2019):

2000 Limited 4x4. Owned by a doctor who recently died, I purchased from his estate. He kept ALL maintenance and fuel up records like a patient chart and had pretty much everything done at the dealer. His health was failing towards the end and he had a couple of boo-boos and kissed the side of his air conditioned garage. Its nothing that can't buff out or that will go bye-bye when I replace the bumpers.

It needs some minor stuff before I'd let my wife commute to work in it (wheels balanced and replace life gate struts).

I'm excited to begin building it out!

Mods so far:
Post #8: Bilstein 4600 rear shocks, MOOG rear springs, ANCO rear wiper adapter, rear lift gate struts, assembled front strut assemblies (Bilstein 4600 and MOOG)

Post #19 & Post #23: Had to re-assemble the front struts. Ran into some issues.

Post #24: Installed front struts & springs, new horn, new fuel filter, and looking into front bumpers and auxiliary fuse block/switches/big 3 upgrade and towing upgrades.

Post #29: LBJs, B&M transmission cooler bypass, cargo lights, airbags, ARB bumper purchase

Post #30: ARB Bumper install and ordered LED replacement lights for the turn signals in ARB bumper

Post #35: '17 Taco wheels, GY Duratrac tires, LED ARB turn signals, got 'er all shined up. Fixed the dead pic links as well.

Congrats. Looks pretty sharp.

Crazy to say that 156K is now considered low mileage for these rigs.

Got the rear Bilsteins (4600's) and MOOG springs on last weekend. I knew it needed new springs and shocks but HOLY CRAP what a difference they made in both ride quality and looks!

I assembled the front struts (4600's and MOOG springs as well) to make their installation faster and my friend mentioned that they looked funny (the whole no washer and bushing thing with Bilstein). So I ordered the Wheeler's kit on the recommendation of others on here.

Meanwhile I also replaced the rear lift gate struts, swapped out headlight bulbs for 55/100 Hella models, and replaced the windshield wiper blades.

I got the adapter kit from ANCO (48-08) and got a Bosch 13" blade to fit and work perfectly! Best part is, it was $1.86!

All I have left is the front struts (when the kit arrives from Wheeler's) and fuel filter. That will conclude the parts from this order.

Oh, and I also got my 2 new key fobs from amazon programmed. It took like 13 or 14 tries and a few beers before the vehicle would go into "program mode". Once it cooperated, the remotes programmed just fine. After that I didn't even want to try and change the beep volume haha

Next up is valve cover gaskets & associated parts to include plugs & wires (has OEM wires but plugs have been changed 3 times!) After that is tundra brake upgrade and tranny fluid cooler and brake controller to prepare for a little camping trip with a small RV.

Who knows what else will happen to it between now and then, too! haha

Uh, just because they aren't included with the shocks doesn't mean you aren't supposed to use the washers/bushings with Bistein shocks... The top setup should be the same as OEM. Looks like you got that figured out though.

Nice rig - love the green on these. Mind giving a ballpark price? I've been looking and trying to learn the market.

OEM rear wiper blade screws on the arm and I have only been able to find a replacement through the dealer and its just the old school frame style. I wanted a way to be able to use a generic wiper blade so I could have the options A. using whatever brand I choose (Bosch beam style...I've had great luck with them) and B. be able to stop anywhere wiper blades are sold and replace it when need be or in a pinch.

I have read posts where people modified their wiper arm to get the same results but then had issues with either the rear window, or the operation of the wiper - mainly in the "bedding" when you turn the rear wipers off.

So far (only turned it on twice), it has worked the same as the OE setup, and my window rolls up & down just fine.

I think someone had said that some wiper blades' hole was not in the same place in relation to the blade's length ie. the hole wasn't in the middle, and that threw off the geometry of the whole setup I guess. I made sure this new blade would sit the same way on the arm as the old one before I tried it out. - I hope that all makes sense.

Yea my buddy said Bilstein recently has not been including all the hardware needed. Others have stated that when calling customer service asking for the pieces, they're being told to re-use the parts that were taken off the rig (the instructions say that too). Like most others on here, I am not wanting to re-use 20 year old rubber bushings that have been exposed to the elements and under tension for that whole time as well.

Thanks! My wife really wanted me to come home with a green one as well. It was posted at $6,900 for fast sale.

So far it works fine. Window rolls down both with dash button and key fobs. Works and retracts same as OEM setup for me.
