Wanted to do a OME all out lift but can't really afford it. Since the truck will be a daily and mainly for looks with some bigger tires under it, I thought this might be a good alternative. Also thinking about replacing the front complete strut from Moog as well. I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of grief for suggesting this but keep in mind the intended usage. Also are extended uca's something I should do with this for caster and front end wandering?

When i bought my 4R it had the rough country spacers on cheap struts. I drove it less than 100 miles before changing to T1s and 5100s. Ride wasnt great, couldnt align it and Upper balljoints were toast from over extension as well.
Dont know what the RC costs but a decent lift isnt that expensive

The OME lifts are not very expensive for the quality. Save your money until you can get what you want. I've had a number of different lifts on different Toyotas, OME is easily ranked near the top and definitely is the top for the money.

Never owned anything Rough Country, but have never heard positive things...

Had a 4runner with it and hated the ride quality on road

What are T1's? I know what the 5100's are.

like others have said, buy once cry once. you will be glad you held off for a few extra months to save for quality parts that are tried, true, and all over these boards. Chances are you'll get the RC lift and in a few months hate your life and have to do it all over again.

I'm currently running this lift as I found it locally, in box, for half price and couldn't say no.

I wouldn't say I regret it as I do love how the truck looks with the stance it provides, but I will say that it is very poorly engineered, and you get what you pay for. Good alignment is impossible and I would probably not be looking at replacing tires right now if I had saved for a proper lift.

I can't comment too much on ride quality as when I purchased my runner the rear springs were quite saggy and the shocks were completely shot - basically anything was an improvement.

I have less than 1K miles on my RC 3" lift. It's coming off next week and will be for sale. Moving on.

I just purchased a 02 with a rough country lift. It's indeed rough. I'll be swapping components as they wear out.

I have to admit that I have the rc lift on my runner...for a street pounder 99% of the time the last 20 years I just couldn't justify spending more than 250 on the set up...I had the original shock break off after 18 years so replaced it all..I've cut up oak trees and loaded them in the back with no problem...I like the back springs and shocks...they work good and have held up great...I don't like the front at all but have lived with it...rides like a tank...there is 0 down travel with the wheel...it is maxed out...so that sucks...If if had to do it all over I'd go with the springs and shocks up front that are suggested on this thread...I really don't know about rear as I like what I have.

I was close to pulling the trigger on buying it but I think based on what I see that's a no go. It's hard to justify 1k or so on a daily that won't be used for the trails but I guess that's what it will take. I could replace it all with stock stuff and just gt spacers but I guess I'd be in the same boat huh?

You can get a good 3 inch setup for less than $1k. I got brand new bilstein 5100s all around with brand new ome springs all around and it came out to a little over $700 shipped to my door. Sure that's not very cheap but you get what you paid for. Mine rides fantastic and performs on and off road 10x better than what was on it (just stock). You can get away a little cheaper by keeping your front springs if they aren't too shot and getting the 5100's for the front that have adjustable spring perches to achieve the same lift. Mine has those shocks, but they are on the "stock" height perch because I have 3" lift springs in the front. Hope that helps

Edit: Just checked my invoice and you can save $167 by keeping your stock front springs until you could upgrade or replace them. That would bring the shipped to your door total to just about $600 and trust me its worth it. I got all by stuff from Wheeler's Off Road and it was a quick and easy process.

That's really good to know, I'll have to call them and see what I can put together. That kind of money wouldn't be too bad.
