2nd Annual Wife/Girlfriend-Friendly Wheeling Trip May 18th - Boreas Pass, Denver

For those that missed it in the rarely visited regional forums ...

It's that time of year again! After the moderate success of last year's trip, I was encouraged to again host this years WGFFWT (just rolls right off the tongue).

New for this year! We'll also be camping along the trail on gorgeous Boreas pass. Beautiful sites and about 15 mins from downtown Breckenridge.

If your wife/girlfriend (or perhaps delicate boyfriend) is anything like mine, she/he has three main gripes with a typical wheeling trip:
  1. Too bumpy
  2. Not scenic enough
  3. Too long

Well in an effort to make wheeling more enjoyable for our better halves, I thought it'd be fun to host a trip that makes wheeling enjoyable for our passengers, and will hopefully help you guys and gals have an easier time convincing yours to go on future trips!

Where & When: May 18th at 9:30am at the Walmart near 44th St and Harlan.

This trip will begin in Denver, and convoy up to Breckenridge en masse. Stragglers will be able to join the group in Breckenridge if it's more convenient. We'll drive approximately 1/2 the length of Boreas Pass before turning onto one of the more scenic and exciting spur trails in the area. We'll end as a group where the trail spits us out, just outside Breckenridge.

Main goals for this trip:
  • Scenic (The Aspens in this area are stunning, and the scenery should please even the most discening passengers)
  • Smooth and comfortable. (We'll be airing down very early in the trip, and traveling on a relatively smooth trail.)
  • Relaxed pace (We won't be setting any speed records on the trail. Remember, this trip is for the enjoyment of the passenger as much as the driver)
  • Short-ish length (Length of time? Approximately 1-2 hours. Absolutely worth the drive from Denver, but short enough to keep it interesting!)

Other information:
  • Communication will be done with VHF radios. This Baofeng radio is a fantastic little unit, affordable, and would be great for such a trip!
  • Bring LOTS of water and snacks. Keeping your passenger fat and happy is the key to success.
  • Couples (or families) only. I love a good sausage fest as much as the next guy, but the goal here is to allow passengers to make other passenger-type friends. Hire an escort, bring a Tinder date, etc.

Any questions, shoot me a message!

Had a great time with the family last year. Trying to convince wife to camp in a remote area. I am sure we would be there.
