@ Crikeymike
could make a progressive coil designed for these types of applications. Considering the amount of people running Land Cruiser coils on their 4Runners, it seems like there could be a business case for a 4Runner/Surf specific coil that achieves what we want?!

The 675V is a 4th gen superflex coil. I know
@ Black798
is running the 210V from Dobs and they are the stock height LC coil. He said he was lower than the 861's by about .5" if I recall correctly. I'd have to sort through my IG dm's to find it.
The specs I have found are:
861's - 220lbs - 480/490 fh
210V - 160-239lbs - 475/485 fh
675V - 157-230lbs - 470-470 fh
Superflex - 210lbs - 495 fh
LC oem - 160lbs - fh varies
The 675V would be .2" lower than the 210V's, so that is headed in the right direction.
I think I read somewhere that
@ Crikeymike
could do a run if 20 were involved. My requests would be a long travel coil, max of 3.0" lift height, and designed for maybe an extra 100lbs of weight over stock. I personally no longer have the mindset of "I have to have a big lift to go over things" as plenty are proving that 1-2" of lift and 35's is enough and fun.

Great info, thanks for sharing. I actually ran the 675V on my 4th gen and was just double checking we were talking about the same thing. They rode great (on the 4th gen) and I was super happy with them. Funny, as I was thinking about trying them on my 3rd gen. I didn't know anyone else was running 4th gen coils on their 3rd gen. I might just have to be the guinee pig as I am totally in the same mindset - lower is better!

Mike with Dobinson's is out of the country, so I sent an email to Dobinson's sales asking if it were possible to add another option to our platform if we had a minimum amount of orders.
Also since you are running 8 wraps, I would what the difference would be from those and the 675V's?

Awesome. I'm down to help rally the troops up if something like this makes sense. Thanks for getting the ball rolling.
I am running 7 or 7.5 wraps. I wish I measured free height before I through them in but I did not. Whatever they are, I want them to be lower and I actually think that they are too soft. After having the progressive coils in the 4th gen (the 675V and Metal Tech LT springs before those) it makes you kind of spoiled having dual rate springs. I think it just makes sense to have them slightly firmer in the rear as they compress - helps with bodyroll in the corners and also allows them to stretch way out for those droopy situations.

This is what I emailed to them:
"Hello,
I'm wondering if its possible to request a coil spring with certain specs if I can get x amount of orders for them?
I have a 2002 4runner, and I know a lot of us are desiring a smaller lift than whats available but a longer coil so that it doesn't fall out during large articulation.
Something with 55-60mm lift in a variable or progressive rate and long travel. Some of us do have a steel bumper with swingout or carry some extra weight in the cargo area, so they would maybe need to be a medium load spring for some. Not sure if its possible to offer a standard load and medium load easily without changing the specs a lot...that is your level of expertise.
If this is possible to do please let me know and any details you can share.
Thank you,"
I wouldn't mind seeing the 675V about a .5" shorter for us

4th gen / 5th gen / FJ rear OEM springs lift 3rd gens around 1" - so start there for your assumptions about fitting aftermarket rear springs.
The upper and lower coil diameters are also slightly bigger on the later gen springs, but fit well enough.

Forgive me if I missed it, but where did you come by the projector headlamp replacements? I'm a newbie to the group, just acquired a '99 T4R, boring old 2WD 4cyl. as my new daily. My headlamps work so-so, but there is peeling of some film just behind the glass and the reflector portion is a bit hazy on both. Thought about hitting the boneyards to see what I could find, but I like the way projectors focus the beam more tightly...nice look for the vehicle too.

He builds them himself. He used to sell them, but not anymore. There a lot of good threads on projector retrofits.

Yup, he nailed it. Sorry for the slow response... I am building lights again on a smaller scale. If you are Canadian especially, fire me a PM.

Not too many updates on the truck. Drove it all winter as a daily and that's about it.
Now that spring is here, I have a few projects on the go:
- make some adjustments to my sleeping platform and re-stain it. I decided to add a drawer on the low side that will hold my Cook Partner stove. The constant pursuit of making camp setup simpler.
- building my Eimkeith rear bumper. It's fairly complicated and I must maintain priority of rust proofing all the new steel and brackets so that seems to have made the process take longer than expected. I am about a week from actually starting to weld things together though
- Install my sPOD and winch and get the wiring all sorted.
In the meantime, here is a couple poser shots from the last few days:

I didn't even notice that invisible wind deflector. I see it now.
