Front Runner Tie Down rings on Rocky Mountain Rack

Has anyone used the tie downs from Front Runner or the RMR rack?

Referring to these rings. I'm not sure if the bolts will work right off the bat or if I will need to get new hardware/carriage bolts to make them work with the RMR.

The RM supports 1/4-20 carriage bolts. I'd suggest getting some "Eye Nuts" with 1/4-20 thread off McMaster-Carr to complete the same objective.

Will most likely go this route. Was just thinking of convenience with the FR kit.

I tried the front runner tie down rings on my rocky mountain rack, the slots in the crossbars are too small for the size of bolt required for the rings so I returned them

Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. I will end up making my own then.

Hi Guys,

Happened to stumble into this thread and I am not sure if it's too late. We now offer our own tie down product that matches the styling of our rack. They are called Sherpa Smileys and they come in pairs with silver or black powder coat. They can be mounted in just about any orientation and used with a wide variety of straps and bungees.

You can check them out on our website here.
