what color factory silicone

so I just did a lot of work on the upper end of my 4runner. I had...no choice..had to do knock sensors.
so I did vc gaskets while that deep., had some seepage at the half moon driver side, supposedly a "dealer" according to the paperwork from Toyota did vc gaskets about 120k previous...so..so
well tearing into it, the silicone was black in some places, but he half moons and the cam round ones ( lack of correct term) had thin gray silicone.

so when the previous owner paid the dealer to replace vc gaskets....did they not pull the half moons or full size disc's

im thinking not

it's been three years since I did my VCG's and associated giblets - but I'm pretty sure I remember the half moons having black fipg - someone correct me if i'm wrong...and they got black fipg when they got replaced.

I'm guessing someone replaced your VCG's in the past, maybe pulled the moons and used whatever they had for those, and black silicone for the rest?

I could be drunk still. Happy Mothers Day?

The usual Toyota FIPG (Form In Place Gasket) is black in color. The dealer probably just replaced the valve cover gaskets and gave the corners/curves a dab of FIPG and didn't touch the "moons"

I recently replaced my vc gaskets, silicone was black, so used them same when I reinstalled and no leaks a couple weeks later.
