Alex’s Golden Pearl OEM+ 3rd Gen Build

Happy to report that the supercharger has been running great so far the last couple thousand miles and pulls hard in boost! I still need to set up the OE Toyota TRD white face boost gauge though.

I had some time with WFH and decided to show the 4runner some more love and bought a couple things I've been meaning to for a while.

First thing I did was swap the windshield washer nozzles with Honda Odyssey nozzles. Love the ways these spray on the windshield now!

Part # I used

Installed

Browsing FB marketplace I scored an OE Toyota sport skid plate from a 02' 4runner with proper mounting brackets for ~$120. Best deal I have found by far, especially with people on here asking ~$300 for them! Mounted up and looking great! The M3 looks "okay"

I also finally got around to swapping the front seat covers with eBay covers from a reputable seller. I'm very happy with the results and this made a huge difference in comfort. The seats feel a lot more firm than before. Will get pics soon.

Last thing I did was coat the undercarriage with fluid film so I'm ready to take on Chicago's winter!

How has the S64 been? I might be getting an E90 328i next year as a toy because I do love the 4 door saloon look.

It's been great, as long as you take care of rod bearings, vanos, and rear subframe they're good for a long time. I take it to redline every time I drive it and it always puts a smile on my face. I'd recommend getting the E90 335i and getting JB4 and tuning it to run more boost. It's insanely fast with the boost turned up and the bottom end can handle it. They're starting to become the "supra" of this era.

Funny enough but I actually want to grab an S2000 to add to the stable, I had a one last year but it was stolen outside of my house sadly. Damn thieves.

I was looking into getting the N54 powered 335i but if anything, I do like reliability a bit (I don't mind wrenching) so I might go with the N55 variant even though it's known to eat rod bearings as well. I do have to see first if I can afford it

I'm sorry for the s2000 incident. It's known for thieves to steal the S2000 and pull the whole engine to sell it for parts. More like a chop shop thing which is a terrible thing to do.

Yeah there are some coil pack issues with the N54 but having two turbos is lots of fun haha. Do the N55 and slap a bigger turbo on it and you'll be pushing big numbers.

All good, thats what I get for trusting the S2000 on the street for a night. Never doing that again.

I thought your LSB looked kinda familiar, and today I was randomly looking at build threads on NAM and it clicked lol Car is super clean man (4runner is nice too)

I miss m3f, was on it for over 10 years with e36's, shame it died.

Haha nice, good recon. I like NAM but sucks it won't even be 10% of what m3f was. Lost a lot on that site when it died.

Your 4runner build is looking great!

Alex’s Golden Pearl OEM+ 3rd Gen Build

Not 4runner related, but I picked up this hunk o' junk last month. My stable is now officially finished. These are the last ICE cars that I will buy/own. I will drive them all into the ground or at least until ICE cars are outlawed. I now have what I believe to be the perfect group of cars from the early 2000's. A "true" millennial garage; 3rd Gen 4runner, E46 M3, and AP1 S2000. I also didn't plan this, but I now have a stable of red/white/blue cars... #merica?

4runner update: I am getting the timing belt/water pump replaced here pretty soon. While doing the water pump, I'm going to install a cooler thermostat now that I am supercharged. I forget the exact model tstat I bought, but its an OE Toyota tstat. Also, my gf did this to my fender flare while pulling the garage. Last time she’s driving the 4runner, lol. Thankfully I was able to source an original flare in Golden Pearl from a junk yard out in Las Vegas. Talk about luck.
