Question for a 1997 Limited owner: Seatback switch?

I ordered a new seatcover bottom and back from Hotrodupholstery.com.

While it is on the way I noticed a hole in the side of my seatback, with a missing switch. I looked up a part number from a switch on eBay and it is for 2000-2002
or 2001-2002. I looked up my '97 and there is no switch on the seatback diagram so I am thinking at some point a later seat was swapped in but my seat cover should still
fit the later years thru 2002.

Just wondering if anyone with a '97 can confirm that all their switches are at the bottom sideband none on the seatback. Maybe the later Limited had an inflatable lumbar support, the seatback angle is controlled on the botton side upper button.

Thanks

I can confirm that there is a lumbar switch Midway up the seat back only on the outside drivers side.

The connector sticking out the side of the seatback is for the lumbar switch. The '96-00 Limiteds had the switch in that location. I'm guessing that there is not a single 4Runner in the world with that switch still intact, the tabs break off and the switch just hangs there, with the seatbelt catching on it occasionally. So some folks glue it to the seatback, while others take it off, like apparently was done on yours. Here is what it looked like on my '97:

The later, -01-02 Limiteds, had the switch smartly relocated to the lower plastic trim piece along the side of the lower seat cushion. I modified my '97 to that setup when redoing the upholstery recently. Here is what that looks like:

If you want to go that route, you'll need the '01-02 Limited trim piece for the bottom seat cushion, and an '01-02 Limited lumbar switch (it's different from the '96-00 switch). And you'll want to get the leather kit without the cutout for the switch in the seatback, though I think they all come without that cutout.

Yes the seat cover comes without a cutout, you just slice one in.

Does anyone have the part number for the '97 switch". When I looked online for the '97 the diagram did not have one.

So, the seat angle is controlled by the upper small button down on the side, this switch was a lumbar support inflator?

And I guess one would just relocate the socket and wiring from the setback to route to the side mounted '01-'02.

Does anyone have the part number for the '97 lumbar setback switch? Maybe if I plug my VIN into the parts diagram it will pop up, I was searching on 1997 + Limited etc.

The '96-00 Lumbar Switch is 84750-22060-E0:

Yes, but like I said above, you'd need to use a different switch, the '96-00 switch won't work with the '01-02 trim piece. You'll need to get the later model switch - 84922-50010-E1.

Bump. @4Runner4Leon has showed the ultimate oem solution, well done. I've taken the same path but one thing that wasn't addressed originally.

Does the later switch have the same connector? Wires have to be lengthed for sure but if a new connector is needed any known source?

Thanks, S.

Same connector for both switches. And the harness was long enough to reroute it to the new location, no extension needed.
