Things could've worse on that trip at least you had an adventure.
What year Tacoma are you looking at getting?

its a bummer for me just for the bond and sentimental. value ive created with it! ive driven it 94,000 miles in 3 years since i purchased it in alaska i of course will be doing a new build thread once i sell this and get a new platform, but it will unfortunately probably be posted on tacomaworld instead

im looking at remaining with a 1st/3rd gen taco/4runner! youre right the balljoint couldve dropped on the road. very thankful for that to happen on the trail. we were very close to finishing it as well
Your front end is messed up already might as well SAS your current rig. I guess if you want to fix it up and just start new after getting 20k for yours that’s understandable too lol

as much as i love the truck i just want to start fresh and let someone enjoy it! it is a fantastic truck i am just too hard and expect too much from something IFS/8''! i am more than happy with putting my NWF dual case, 1uz, rear axle in something else if im already doing it. trying to sell the upgraded parts sound like a hassle that i wouldnt be worried about starting on a cheaper new rig. it just doesnt make since to do all the work on this unit!!
started building my NWF case that will not be going inside lucy. just wanted to share the case. super high quality. confusing process as ive never torn apart a transfer case but the instructions are pretty good step-by-step. a few head scratches here & there but its been straightforward. need to purchase 1 more transfer case so i can immediately swap into next chassis
the 1uz is torn apart in the middle of getting rebuilt, as you can see in the last pictures. i also went camping overnight nearby
goals this week:
weld resi mounts - done
repaint rear bumper/ tub job - done
fix rear spring
remove platform to install trailer harness back in
put spidertrtax spacers from up front to rear and then check for rear clearence - done
finally got the resi mounts on. ive been getting cremated in this 108 degree weather, so not too much has been getting done other than a lot of mountain biking.. (approx 75 miles a week of stirctly trail riding)
swapped the front spacers to the rear. i though it looked too goofy
you know the deal if youve came this far, right now the only issues are that
-cel is on from when i did that charcoal canister, truck will stay cleared for about a week and a half before it comes on, and i drove 600 miles without it coming on, but it will come on. charcoal canister comes with truck
-bushings are a lil soft on rear links
-speedo cuts in & out from time to time from when i took out front abs lines
well, just because lucy is for sale doesnt mean im completely abandoning her.. i went and did another ouray trip for my birthday and truck did awesome minus ripping both lower control arm bushings out completely.. from 5-30% throttle was an absolute death sentence to drive 6 hours back home because the rear end would GO RABID and swing side to side causing a near uncontrollable death wobble up until you let off throttle. and with me being at cruising speed on the freeway, this happened about every 4 minutes or so until it would reoccur.... it was scary. got it back home and a couple days after i snap my clavicle(collar bone) in two places in a really bad mountain bike crash prepping for a race so i havent done anything since the ouray trip, it still need lower links..
on the bright side i immediately finished the NWF dual case setup and is ready to go in whatever, along with me finishing the rebuild of the 1uz. not sure if im just going to suck it up and keep lucy, or stick with selling. i havent gotten too many hits as theres a lot of flakes these days but its definitely getting interest.
ill post more updates when i have a more operable arm
I feel like heavily modded rigs don't do so well in the used car market. It's worth 20k just in parts and labor, but a lot of people who want to buy a 4runner don't want a LT rig on 37's and those who do want a LT rig on 37's want to build it themselves. It's just a narrow market unfortunately. But that's just my $0.02

i went in knowing that as ive "built" more than 10 cars, its always difficult selling them.. figured id have more interest from some guy that wants something turn-key after being in the van business... apparently not!
