my first trip to do a locker shakedown was to st george.. met up with a friend and did a few level 7/8 trails! towards the end of one i tested my luck and found my boundaries on a wall-line..

i have a lot of trips coming up very soon! excited to share. thats all for now

first moab trip 2021

just came back from moab for the first time this season! it was a total blast.
we ran poison spider, gold spike, gold bar rim, kane creek, top of the world, & fins n things. lucy did fantastic with 35s and dual lockers i couldnt be any more happy. did just every "hard line" other than the random buggy lines you see throughout the trifecta!

need more beer
an annoying rattle coming from a heatshield
body damage on passenger side of truck (not too terrible, oh well its whats to be expected)
i need a new rack it makes grousome noises

ill be posting stuff i did in order to fix my list! waiting on parts to come in to proceed doing so.

i also gained a new partner ship with a person named austin. austin builds 3rd gen 4runner window vents for people who sleep in their vehicle, or just plain want better ventilation inside. these things are insanely burley and have mesh screen to detur bugs and block sunlight!! they are seriously so nice to have and ive yet to experience any condensation (happens every time i go camp)

if you want to purchase some, best way to reach him is on instagram. his instagram is _austins_adventures

havin fun

nothing really new on the 4runner. when i went to moab, i cracked both of my strut towers from jumping the 4runner(i need to fix my bumpstop situation)
so i grinded out the cracks, rewelded them & installed a set of eimkeith strut plates to not deal with this issue again in the future. didnt really get pictures as i was just trying to get it done & over with, it turned out very clean and the welds look fantastic

recently went down to st George again to fix a van remotely and decided to bring my mountain bike and go bike some technical trails down there.

upon leaving one of the areas i was behind this car that rapidly slowed down to dodge a pothole or something? i went to hit my brakes also and my foot went to the absolute floor. i had to make a split desicion so i went from 4th to 2nd, e brake deployed, and went into a ditch that ended up shooting me into the air and back into the road, slowly coming to a stop as i still didnt have break pressure. i get outside and find this

PXL_20210410_182119770

the hardline had broke and shot all my fluid out most-likely from when i went to hit the brakes (didn't use brakes the road until then). im assuming it had sheared at the feral due to vibration of the beat up road, and me going pretty dang fast on it for about 20 minutes. luckily i was with a friend and he had got me a universal 8" double feral hardline from napa that was 20 miles out of where i was, fixing my issue. i ordred 3 total sets of the OEM hardlines when i got home so i have spares just incase i run into this issue again. repaired the hardline & proceeded to go home

I had one of those brake lines break on me last summer coming down dirt road. Luckily mine didn't snap all the way so I had some pressure. Not a fun experience losing your brakes. I think mine broke because the bracket that holds it to the spindle was loose on mine from the bolt being broke that holds it. Got that fixed since then though so hopefully it doesn't happen to me again.

im hypothesizing that it broke because im also not bolted to the bracket anymore since the TC gussets hinder them, going to weldsome new brackets on

when stuff hits the fan

back in moab... again (its kind of really easy to go to moab from SLC)

rusty nail & hells revenge. made it all the way through rusty nail no issues! broke another CV but that was about it.. i also did hells gate for the 4th time... maybe 4th's time not the charm

IMG_4728

i was following my spotter who's never personally done the gate, set me way too far passenger side and when he had me correct to the driver, she gave up the ghost, flipped back, and on to its side.. luckily no glass broke but there is body damage, lets fastforward a bit..

the flip didnt give me any suspension damage or steering other than my steering rack is now near useless right afterwards (little to no powersteering)
but i proceeded to remove necessary parts from the roll and head over to rusty nail, i was told it was pretty gnarly, and my 4runner wouldnt make it up..so, i went there

BUMPING it up riff raff (this is what i was told i couldnt make.. nice try )
IMG_4789
IMG_4792

IMG_7197
IMG_4815

i broke my CV at that section and also was having a really hard time getting up the massive ledge due to my rear clearence... well talk about this later. my truck is beat, it needs parts, and updates. its back on the chopping block for awhile. this ended up being the only damage with the flip.. suprisingly not bad at all

IMG_7222
IMG_7227
IMG_7232

knocked a mirror loose, bent the door, dented the door, and smoked the windshield..

new plans for lucy

i got really frustrated after rusty nail and set the hammer down. its time to revise my end goal for lucy..

-raptor lined mirrors
-1" body lift
-tube bumper with aggressive quarter panel hoops
-f150 tank
-ford 9 inch 65/67" WMS (35 spline with locker)
-double triangulated 4 link
-14 coilovers for the rear
-38's
-undecided front end plan

with the 1uz swap i think itll just be easier if i run a body lift for multiple reasons other than an engine swap.. i really didnt want to but its necessary for the route i want to take. i started off with removing the rear bumper.. this is where the build might be on pause for a little as i try to find a daily driver.. its too unrealistic to keep daily driving this thing

Woah, this is awesome! I've been following long enough to see some pretty cool changes and it's amazing. I'm actually going on a 5500+ miles cross country trip, just wondering if Hell's gate is doable on a non-locked runner. Have 33's, 3" lift, and high clearance bumpers f/r if that makes any difference.
