I also have liability only (with Geico) and am currently paying $198 per 6 months. Coverage is $300k person / $500k occurrence and property liability limit of $100k. I do have a second vehicle and a $1m umbrella policy with Geico as well, but no homeowners since I'm a renter. This is in LA.

We see that trend too where as your DD didn’t change in premium. Has nothing to do with your household driving record; rather the rating of that individual vehicle in claim occurrences across the board.
So, you also then?

It’s a bullsh!t answer. Insurance companies will come up with any excuse to raise rates.

Thanks to the MI Auto Insurance Reform, my dad, brother and I were able to save a thousands of money in coverage.
Before I used to pay 1200 a year for liability only.
Now it's gonna be a very low cost of $268 a YEAR.
I can actually get full coverage for like $700 a year but chose not to do that for 2021 since limited travels and working from home. Also I don't think it's worth it because they won't cover any upgrades I made so isn't it smarter to just save the money for repairs and maintenance vs the insurance?
What do you guys think, what if I get totalled etc?
How's the details on my insurance compared to yours?

Yes, especially this year, the price per month keeps going up by some percentage for many reasons according to my insurance company. Full coverage $300 per month.
I cross referenced with a few mates to see the difference. Used toyota car insurance is significantly less expensive than brand new. Obviously. But I didn't think that the difference is that much.
[COLOR="Black"]The average payment for used is between $1200 and $1450 per year with general liability ( Plumbing Insurance - Cost & Coverage (2021))
For brand new car owners I'm thinking about starting to bounce around insurance companies to keep the rates lower. This sucks I know but what else can we do?

Mine increased to $35 dollars this year. This is possibly due to people wrecking them which increased the insurance rate. I have progressive.

Very true. I've seen that everything has been slowly getting more expensive as time progresses by. It sucks but it is what it is.

my rates for my 2001 is $116 a year higher than they were for my 2000. Same coverage and the 2000 had 40k less miles. But i bet it had something to do with me totaling out my 2000 a few months ago. Single car accident, slid it in ice.

I'm paying Geico $213/mo for a 2018 Rav4 and 1999 4Runner, full coverage on both, with rental coverage, uninsured/underinsured, and a $100 deductible. I feel like that's a pretty good deal honestly.

I guess it pays to have a good driving record. I pay under $60 a month for full coverage on my 2018 wrangler and right around $160 per year for liability only on my 02 4Runner. I just added comprehensive for a whopping $64/year extra.

Unfortunately, comparisons are only academic. Where you live, who you are (single, married, credit rating, profession, etc), what else you insure and about 10 other variables make it almost impossible to do a comparison with someone else.
Even comparing rates to someone in a different part of the same city isn't the same thing, even more if it's a different state.
That said, some rates WILL have gone down since last year accidents went down. Since insurance is governed by each state, the insurers will have to refund or in some way discount rates to reflect that overall decrease from that time period.
The flip side is that insurance CAN go up (which is silly since cars get older and cost less), but their argument is that it's based on accidents in general from the pool of insured people.
So once accidents go back up (which it has), expect to see a big rate jump.
My rates went down during my most recent renewal because of 2020, but at the next renewal, if accidents are back to normal, I'm going to see it go up and then some.
