Cool Another “Name That Sound(s)” thread

First of all thanks in advance. I hope this issue I am having can be solved with others experiences and knowledge.

2001 4WD Limited

Revving in park or neutral will not summons the noise. Its only when its in drive and rolling under load (clue?). Once it starts rolling I hear a vibration type noise but ONLY under load. From 5mph up is a click, click, click and faster as rpm increase. Its very loud up to about 45mph. Then it seems to be “quieter” or just not as loud but still present. While fwy or street driving I can let off the gas pedal and the noise is 100% gone. Then as I give it gas (now under load) the sound is present.

** Things that I have changed within the last 5k miles. Sound was present before and after new parts/maintenance. **

Both front CV axles (OEM ones)
Front diff fluid
Transfer case fluid
Rear diff fluid
Rear driveshaft u joint
Lubed driveshaft

** Things I think could be the issue **
** Transfer case
** Transmission
** Torque converter
** Front UJoint
** Front diff
** Transmission

I have tried getting the rear wheels off the ground and putting it in drive to hear the noise from under but the dang traction control engages and wont allow that area of troubleshooting. Open for suggestions. The main clue here is it only is present under load. Thanks!!

My two guesses are:

Ujoints (check for play in them)
Rear differential (carrier/pinion bearing, they generally only make noise under load but it's a groaning sound and not a click click click)

My guess would be Ujoints, too. I had the same type of issue and there wasn't any play so I pulled the driveline and took it to a shop and sure enough... Ujoint.

I'm not a transfer case expert so I don't have any input but THANK YOU for posting a photo/video, so many people post on here with very little info and it's hard to help. Someone with more experience than I should be able to tell you what's wrong.
