I'm about to separate the body off of a 98 2wd to use the frame on my 97 4wd (ill have to relocate the transmission cross member based in my reading on other forms).

Any pointers on what needs to be disconnected for a smooth body removal?

Sorry for a late reply. I haven’t been on here in months.

I also used a 2wd frame. Moving the cross member is a lot easier than I thought it’d be. I used a grinder to cut the welds from the frame and moved it accordingly.

Having a car lift is a huge plus. I don’t know how I would’ve done it with out one. It’s been a while since I did this so it’s possible that I forget something. I started out with the undoing the body mounts and then moving to the engine bay. There you have the throttle cables, fuel lines, brake lines and a few wire connectors and radiator hoses. Honestly the best thing to do is to disconnect the obvious things that you see are separate from the body and then just very gently lifting the body and watching for anything else that need to be removed/disconnected. Having another set of eyes is a huge plus.

Good luck and I’m glad to hear that another 3rd gen is getting properly restored back to life. Let me know if you have any questions and I’d be happy to help if I can.
