Axle Boot Issue - Mid Job

Hope someone more knowledgable can chime in and save me some time on this long weekend.

I began a full suspension rebuild a few days ago and decided to order some CVJ extended axle boots to solve my inner boots tearing.

Went to install them today and they a quite bigger than the the axles inner joint. Like half an inch of space.

I know i’ve had the axles replaced. Do aftermarket axles have different sized inner joints?

If they are different, I wouldn’t think it would be by half an inch! I do know that the spider and roller assemblies in Napa axles are smaller than oem so maybe that means the housing is in fact smaller too.. I kept the boot that come on them though so I can’t speak to oem sized boots fitting or not.. be sure to update us when you figure it out..

Axle Boot Issue - Mid Job

Not sure if this is the same situation but i ordered the porsche 930 boots for inners and had to cut my factory boots and use them inside the 930 boots. Did all that just guessing it might work and then checked the site where i bought the boots and it confirmed that i was right.

Not sure if it will but hope that helps.

Not sure about why those particular boots won't fit, but I can tell you that remanufactured axles should be just like factory ones unless one of the joints was so worn out that it had to replaced when the axle was rebuilt. New axles are all Chinese and are frequently different than OE. I actually prefer remans over new. If you ever install a pair of new axles in a Subaru you'll know why.

Anyone know where I can find an adapter or the right sized boot?
