Help needed......

After replacing the actuator motors in all the doors, my son comes home and the back drivers side door will not open from the inside or out. I'm think there is a good chance the child safety lock in triggered for the inside. But the outside I am guess that the handle rod came off some how. The handle moves but there is no resistance. How do I go about getting the door panel off from the inside? I don't see any easy way of doing it. Help please......

I see these situations a lot. What works best for me is to simply just roll the window all the way down and remove the panel screws. With the window down you can now use a pry tool to get the panel over the window ledge and make enough room to access inside the door.

Haven’t done it on my 3rd gen yet but many Nissans and also a rav4 of my sister in laws.

How did you go about getting the door panel off in order to get the door open to fix it? Can you buy the little clip to fix the problem?

Yes you can, I just fixed mine yesterday. I got the clips off eBay for like $8.

What I think broke on mine is where the rod connects to the lock mechanism itself. There was a thin plastic clip that held the two piece together that slides up and down. I almost bet you can't buy that little clip. I bet I have to buy the whole mechanism. We will see I guess....

Toyota OEM Factory Drivers Side Exterior Door Handle Rod Clip 69293-12040 2PCs | eBay

These are the ones I bought. Worked perfect.

Ohhhh...these go to the door handle itself, not the actuator. My bad, didn't see your second post until after I replied.

Got the door panel off and door open. Seems my problem is on the inside. The lever (spring loaded) that moves the "latch" back to open stops working after about 20 times or so. So the door will not open. Anyone got an extra drivers side rear latch assembly laying around?

Got the panel off with door closed. Was to bad. Just popped the 2 side push clips in and pried it up and off.
