Intake Air hose leak: Temp fix?
My intake air hose is cracking and leaking, causing lean bank codes. (Shop said it, and attached pic shows apparent cracking (close to throttle body).)

I'm probably going to go with a K&N intake since I'd already be spending on replacing that piece. Is there a temporary fix for a trip I'm leaving on tomorrow? It just needs to last for about 700 miles over a week or so. I'm even passing the Summit racing south of Atlanta, so might even be able to pick up the intake in person and avoid shipping and/or local parts store costs.

Edit: I'm fine with tape or some sort of glue/gel as long as it won't harm anything (other than the hose; it's obviously already trash).

For a temporary fix I would go with some Gorilla tape or duct tape. Shouldn’t cause any harm and only for a week or so no issues.

If only there was a tape of some sort that could be used for air ducts.

lol you could probably drive as is without doing anything and it'd be fine. Mine was cracked once for god knows how long before I noticed it..

Yeah, and of course AC ducts have the same pressure difference as the intake hose! (Actually, I don't know the intake pressure differential, but I do know that AC manufacturers say that "duct tape" is actually NOT to be used on ducts. The tape they use now is apparently much better at lasting for years/decades and maintaining an airtight seal.)

I just wanted to be sure that something that seemed safe wasn't actually going to cause major damage (i.e. tape fragment (or sticky residue) gets sucked in and destroys major engine components))

Haven't measured fuel economy (been bad about that the last couple of years) but pretty sure it's using more fuel, probably using a "protect the engine" mode with a rich fuel mixture, so a temp fix should help with fuel costs on the trip.

I used RTV silicon in the same spot a while back when I noticed it was cracking. It flexes with the hose and holds up great right there. Just make sure to let it cure completely as a precaution before running the engine at all.

Why not fix it right with a $12.55 part off amazon, takes 5 mins to put on. No more lean codes and Reliable fix! 700 miles is a long time to risk it.....

^^This is the easiest and least likely to fail in high underhood temps. Most auto parts chain stores have this. Duct and vinyl electrical tape won't like the hot, roasty atmosphere in the engine compartment.
Alternative: Get a huge diameter piece of electrical shrink wrap, heat gun it in place. RTV is OK also if you can wait for it to cure.
