Lower ball joint replacement recommendations
After reading about the issues with lower ball joint failures I am going to replace mine on my 98 SR5. Should I only buy Toyota or are any aftermarket ones a good choice? Any advice is greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!

if you are buying a pair, Camelback Toyota has free shipping over $150.
I ordered a pair two weeks ago plus bolts...

Low Range Off Road sells 555 brand (OEM) for around $70 apiece. Napa has a line called Altrom which are OEM parts. Other than that it's the dealership or an online Toyota parts wholesaler. Moog and Napa chassis ball joints are OK. Never ever use economy parts!

I read many threads before getting all OEM parts. Just not worth saving a few bucks on a part you want to do right and not have to worry anymore. Camel was good for me and there is a small discount code floating around too.

I've ordered from Camelback. If I recall, I paid $208 with free shipping.

Since you are on the East Coast, check Conicelli Toyota in PA: 1996-2003 Toyota Lower Ball Joint 43340-39465 | Conicelli Toyota of Conshohock.
These guys match Camelback (including shipping) if they have to, and you will get stuff a LOT faster. Camelback free shipping takes FOREVER to the East Coast.
Lots of horror stories on Moog, don't go there.

Another vote for Conicelli Toyota in PA.
I’m in lower Hudson Valley and I use them for all my Toyota parts. No sales tax when shipped to NY and reasonable shipping costs.
Derek in their parts Department always willing to help with part numbers and any questions.

I had the 555 (Moog packaging) LBJs and they definitely weren't OEM quality.

Years of accumulated reports here show that the only "OEM" balljoints are the ones that say "Toyota" on the package and/or part. 555, Moog, Napa, and any other badge are all suspect. And, yeah...get 8 new bolts while you're at it.

Some people have had the bolts holding the lower ball joint to the lower control arm fail causing the same destruction as if your lower ball joint had separated.
