When do you need to extend the rear bumps/sway links?

I planned on running without the front swaybar while keeping the rear as I heard this is good enough as the sway isn't extreme and the rear bar doesn't limit flex much.

But, when do I need to extend links or bumps?

You want your sway bar to remain parallel to the ground. So with a lift and stock end links it will cause your sway bar to angle down. You then need to extend the end links to get the sway bar back to parallel.

Okay gotcha, so I take it was in the amount of lift you want to increase the link length? Is it as simple as for every inch of lift you add an inch to the link?

Normally once someone completes a suspension lift (on average, 3"), you extend your sway bar end links by about an inch proportionately to keep the bars level. The easiest way to do that is buy new, or move your front links to the rear and buy 2nd gen rear links for the front. This gives you the length you need and you can normally get away with suitable aftermarket replacements. I went proforged on mine and they have been holding up nicely. Any more lift, and you might want to look at buying adjustable ones, and if you are within an inch of stock height, I wouldn't worry about it. Hope this helps!

I'll give a little advise, and it starts with NOT making your sway bar level with the ground. If you do this on the rear you lower control arms will make contact with your sway bar/sway bar links. You want your sway bar to be parallel with your lower control arm. Or, just slightly up from it, but not level with the ground.

Once you lift you'll want to get longer links. This is simply to get your sway back to it's intended position. You can use 3rd front links on the rear, and 2nd Gen links on the front. This will give you the added length, but will not increase the strength. If you're looking for added strength you should look into the links below.
