Anyone used a Flowmaster 40?
Thinking about changing the muffler. I don't want a ratty tone but I know there's only so much I'll get. Not doing a cat back since the pipes are great shape.

I bought my 4Runner with a Flowmaster 40 on it. Extremely loud inside and out with horrible drone. Extremely happy I changed mufflers. No clue what muffler I'm running now. I went to my exhaust shop and told them to put in the quietest muffler they had.

I have one installed, and don't mind it. Louder, yes. Nicer tone, definitely. Drone? Maybe a touch at certain speeds, but either I have gotten used to it, or it isn't much. I can't compare to too many others, but I like mine!

I put on a 40 when I went to a shop in St Thomas as it was all they had. Too loud and the drone was pretty bad at certain rpms. I put a resonator in front of the muffler and that got rid of the drone and quieted the volume. Sounds good now, but there are lots of better options than the 40 unless you want it really loud

Check out the Thrush Welded muffler. Cheap, deep and loud.

I think I'm gonna go with a Magnaflow
Anyone used one of those? Theuffler guy tells me it's gonna give me a good time without the drone.

I just put a magnaflow 11255 on mine and despite what people on here say, it's definitely louder than stock but not an annoying loud however it has a decent sound. The downside is it drones at 1700-2100 rpm. Enough that im looking to put on a helmholtz resonator just to help eliminate that problem.
