"Strange, I dont have that! What is that?"

It's the rear blower fan, for rear cabin heat.
Cold climate regions have them.

The controls are on the back of the console between the two front seats.

I plan on installing one, one of those days, and also add an engine heater (Webasto) to heat up the cabin prior to travel or sleeping inside the car.

It is nice to have it.

Cold weather regions?
They don’t all have them? Wondering if my 4Runner came from somewhere up north originally

It's not only limited to cold weather climates. Me thinks all USA T4R's got 'em.

My T4R was originally sold in Tucson and there ain't nothing cold about there anytime of year and it has the same fan under the passenger seat.

And that system pumps out some HEAT!. I was really surprised how hot it got when I ran it while replacing my radiator/thermostat/coolant a while back.

I sit corrected and thanks for the education.

Interestingly, this is the first time I've ever been wrong*.

I hope they have an electric heating element instead of a heater core.

My '99 Limited from Texas does not have one.

And it's heated from a hard coolant line. People often bypass it because if it cracks you loose coolant in the cabin and risk overheating.

That would draw way too much power.
They use a heater core.

Yeah for sure. Where I live the winters only drop into the 40's, so I almost always use only the rear heater. I don't like dry heat blasting on my face so I crank up the rear heater and within 10 minutes it's nice and cozy inside.
