Is an OEM transmission mount REALLY worth over double than aftermarket?

Title says it all. OEM manual trans mount is $82, after a 31.5% discount. Rock Auto Beck and Arnley mount is only $30. Opinions?

The dunes got boring because I couldn't jump. I'm not the type to enjoy someone else's vehicle. So i'm in the process of making making the dunes no longer boring. I guess that involves jumping.... A lot.

it depends.

Option 1 got with cheap mount and it sucks, do job again with OEM part.

Option 2 use OEM and done, forget about it.

it might be cheaper than rock? shipping usually brings it up to the same range.

Beck Arnley engine and transmission mounts are crap. So is their customer service. Ask me how I know.

non-OEM bushings, mounts, CV boots, rubber etc. tend to degrade much faster than OEM. I suspect there are some components in the original rubber formulation that have gone up in price over the years... aftermarket suppliers just say "meh"

Same experience here. You replace a 15 - 20-year-old original part that finally gave up the ghost with a brand new knockoff rubber parts. And then a year later... it needs to be replaced again.

Haven't had that happen with motor/trans mounts yet (I replaced my trans mount with genuine), but I've seen first hand how other rubber parts fall apart quickly:
- front control arm bushings - quickly showed cracking, then tearing, replaced a year later, 4 or 5 years on OEM replacements since then and they're still fine
- Intake rubber accordion hoses - sure, the 25-year-old original was cracked, but the replacement turned flaky/mushy (a combination of dried out crumbly stuff and sticky black goo) within a year. Replaced with junkyard parts that were a couple of decades older but better. That was on a late 80's Celica.

OEM rubber components are hard to beat when it comes to 4Runner parts. You can't even buy them under the supplier brand like you can with German car parts.

I replaced mine with aftermarket brand (cannot remember which) at least 10yrs ago. Still doing great. I must have been lucky. Its a quick and easy job to do, so a redo is not the end of the world.

wow, that was a lot of feedback everyone!! I appreciate the responses, and there were many interesting points. One of the ones that I found most interesting is the idea of "material price going up over time and aftermarket companies saying meh". I have went with all OEM Toyota components in the past on every critical job. the longevity of some aftermarket components is greater, I just purchased the energy suspension body mount bushing set because its poly and not rubber. There's pros and cons to that but the pros outweighed cons for me. Due to the sure quality of all materials involved ill go with the OEM on this one, thanks again!
