Morning All,
I installed my New York CB Antenna yesterday and found the coax cable to be too short for proper placement on the rear of the roof rack. I chose this spot due to it's appearance as though it is a common AM/Fm radio antenna. So if anyone is considering installing one you will need an extension of 3-6 feet depending on where your CB unit is being installed. I ran the remainder of the coax cable behind the passenger side trim and then under the rear of the front seat to where the floor heat run has an opening in the carpet as my unit is installed on the passenger side next to the shift lever. The unit was to large to install in the dash sadly!
Here is the unit I am describing:
President New York CB Antenna | Right Channel Radios
As I wanted the wire connecting it as inconspicuous as possible I went with
the rear position so I could thread it thru the back hatch door and I have added a picture of the wiring for the center top panel that has the light and when you remove this panel it has many layers of plastic that needs to be trimmed so that you do not pinch the coax cable. I used wire holders so that the cable does not come in contact with hold points and those are readily available on Ebay / Amazon. Also, the cutting tool in the picture I used is readily available at Lowes / HD.
Hope this helps anyone considering this option for their 4Runner!
