FJ80 Wheels and lugnuts
I just got my FJ80 wheels finally put on my 4Runner. The tech at the tire ace said I may want to make sure I have the correct lugnuts for the wheel. Do I have to swap out lugnuts from a 4Runner to a Land Cruiser type? The washer around the lugnuts now is loose. I kinda want to switch over to black lugnuts anyway.
Thanks
Bob

When I switched from the split spoke wheels to the LC wheels I had to get new lug nuts. It seems odd that the tech wouldn't know the correct lugs for the style wheel. I have also heard that only some LC wheels have different lug nuts than the 4Runner but haven't seem it first hand.

This has been covered quite a few times. '93 & '94 LC80 wheels use tapered seat lugs. '95+ LC80 wheels use the mag seat lugs, which are the same lugs all 3rd gens come with.

You can easily tell because the 93-94 wheels had a black steel insert in the wheel that the lug nut would go on top of. The 95-97 were all aluminum. I have the 94 wheels and ordered a set of lug and locks from wheelers off road for fairly cheap.

I would question the tech if he said that. cause I would think any style would work in an emergency to get home, but its pretty obvious that a lug nut is the right one or not.
I just put my LC wheels on and am very happy with them. but I got lucky on when I bought the wheels that I didn't have to change out the lug nuts.
what color did you go with?
pics are always good when you do something to your runner, cuase we like to share the excitement with you. here is a pic of mine minus the caps

Pics will be posted tonight to tomorrow...I promise. I've done alot since the lift.
So I need to order 12 x 1.5 lug nuts in acorn or ball/round shape? Also am I safe to drive on the lug nuts I have now?
Thanks
Bob

Looking at a set of these Fj80 16x8 on craigslist. Will bolt right on with the correct lugs?
I read they do not clear the tundra brakes, I had not done this upgrade yet but was thinking about it.

Can confirm this style does not clear the tundra brakes. I use a 1" wheel adapter to solve that.
EDIT:
This is the Land Cruiser wheel I am referring to, with the acorn lug nuts.... (should have posted this earlier, sorry!)

Thanks, rotors are def warped so I will be doing my first brake job...more likely Ill get scared and have my mechanic down the street do it. May just replace with 4Runner standard.
LC wheels are $180 which I think is a good deal for a set of 4.
